I figured this trailer deserved it's own thread outside of Transformers after doing a bit of googling on the subject.

So far I've found that working titles could include, Cloverfield, The Parasite, and Slusho and possible theories being tossed around include Godzilla, Voltron, some sort of armageddon related story, Lost, Chtulu, and all kinds of other shit.

I've read thru the discussions on digg and other sites, and while I've never seen Lost or any of the viral marketing for it, this is definitely getting my attention.

Personally I don't think it's Voltron or Godzilla, and JJ Abrams has been discounting those theories as well. I keep finding quotes in various discussions saying it's a monster movie told thru the eyes of various people's personal video recorders, like handicams, cell phones, etc. sort of blair witch formatted monster movie. sounds pretty interesting.

It's working though, people are going nuts over trying to uncover everything. From what i read there was a lot of relation of the 'monster' to cult or religion, not actual religion, but lore or legend.

It has my attention as well. I'm not sure why people are thinking it has anything to do with Lost...and that show didn't really have any viral marketing. I don't think so anyway.

actually there seems to be a lot of it. I keep turning up people talking about the Lost stuff in searches, stuff like this:

Also one reason for people thinking it had something to do with Lost was I guess the monster noise sounds just like the monster from Lost. I couldn't tell you tho, I've never seen an episode.

Ohhh...okay, yeah. There were some things like that. I was thinking in terms of hype prior to the show starting.

The sound is different. Although what I noticed in Mission Impossible 3 (which JJ Abrams worked on), a lot of the sound track and stuff were lifted from LOST....and it had a LOST feeling. So I think this movie will have some elements that will remind people of LOST....I'm hoping it's more original though.

JJ Abrams announced at the San Diego Comic Con that its definitely a monster movie, but it is NOT Godzilla (altho Godzilla was his inspiration, but he is using a different monster) or Voltron related.
