Default Doctor Who... Sucks :|

So the new format of Doctor Who with Billie Piper has started airing here on PBS. Once again, I've given the show a chance, but I just can't get into it. I had to turn it after only a few minutes. It's just too... well I dunno, low budget looking. I mean, this is a bigtime BBC production and yet it reminds me a lot of like Farscape (poor visual effects, meh storyline, etc.). At least Farscape was made 5-8 years ago.

Again, this is a primetime, big production and yet it looks low budget. I mean, why couldn't they do it like Stargate or Star Trek or any of the other American shows? I can totally get into and believe those, but I just can't with Doctor Who or any other British show really.

Does anyone else have this feeling? Or is it just me?

Is this the season with Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant? I loved both, and last night watched the second episode of the current season which was pretty good (and funny).

I'm not sure why British shows in general look very dull, with the obvious exception of Top Gear. It's like this BBC(?) show Robin Hood, ugh....I watched the premiere in the US and it was really lacking (in terms of looks).

Watch out, some Brit may come by and call you vulgar. But in all seriousness, I do agree.

A new series has just stated here with another assistant. It gets worse each year, last nights episode was poor even by BBCs standards.

The show got more interesting with each episode, at least until the end of the second season. But I never really got into it, I get the impression it was made for kids primarily.

I don't think it's a kids show. IMO it's supposed to be kinda cheesy and not take itself too serious. And I actually liked last nights episode

The first show with CE was iffy, they got better. Still a bit up and down through out. David Tennent has been quite good, but I did not like the interaction with the BP replacement yesterday, still. ... When they are good they are very good, the WW II one from the first CE series with the gas masks - creepy.

Some of the jokes are a bit infantile, it kind of ruins the mood of the show. I know Dr. Who isn't a completely serious show but it tries too hard to be a drama at times.

There are talks of doing a US version of Doctor Who, bringing back Billie Piper (Rose) and Hugh Jackman as the Doctor.

My thoughts...it will fail miserably.

doubt those with the rights to Doctor who will allow it. They are already skating on thin ice at the moment with regards to how long they can continue the show due to continuity issues.

The doctor is only allowed to regenerate 12 times (for a total of 13 versions) before he dies permenantly. As we are on number 10 already i doubt they will allow there to be a "wasted" doctor...

Especially after the 8th doctor Paul McGann farce which was run by the americans...... images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Telly bosses are trying to tempt Billie Piper to return as Doctor Who's sidekick-in a multi-million-pound US version of the show.
Billie, 25, won two awards playing Rose Tyler in the BBC hit. She left last year with the opportunity for a comeback-standed on an alternate planet Earth. But tackling america will be her most exciting mission with the doctor yet.

A US TV indsider said " We've been following the relaunched Doctor Who and we love it. Billie will become a superstar here". X-men actor hugh jackman may play the doctor becauses brit david teannant is doing a fourth series here.
That's all I know. A lot of maybe...

I'm not a fan of the new Doctor Who.. not gone near it really.. I think they needed to do more, at least have London as the centerpiece location, not silly crap in Wales...

Don't find the badguys interesting, so many other things to watch that are better.

I hardly watch TV here at all anymore, sometimes something is on that is good like a documentary, film or sport, but aside from that it's pretty useless stuff.
