This may be extremely old news if it turns out everybody knows him overseas already, but i just ran across one of his episodes recently and it had me wondering if our friends over in europe ever got to enjoy his comedy.
If you don't know who he is: He was a somewhat controversial black comedian, who started off with stand up and then Had a really successful show for 2 seasons, he signed a deal for season 3 and then his father died, something related to race issues went wrong at the studio and hes been completely AWOL since then. Anyways he was easily the most immitated and talked about comedian when he was on the air, and if you haven't heard of him, then all the better, as you probably then haven't had to deal with much of your friends doing TERRIBLE imitations of him. Heres two little tasters, i would highly recommend picking up his DVDs, both seasons are very good, arguably the 2nd is even better, but the first was already on its own level. He also wrote and stared in "Half Baked" R. Kelly (very funny if you know about the scandel

I kinda liked some of the jokes. A lot of it is just plain unfunny with a lot of screaming to make it funny.
The parody of "Mtv's Real world" is hilarious!

Never seen it and from these clips I don't think I would want to see any more if it either. I dislike all obviously scripted stand-up comedy such as this.

The only stand up comedy I like is when the comedian is making it all up on the spot, or at least most of it up on the spot with nothing rehearsed. This also means that there is a lot of audience interaction as most of the comedy is derived from the audience. Admittedly there isn't many comedians like this.

Alright, improv...gotcha. I found it kinda strange. So even like Jerry Seinfeld, you wouldn't want to watch his stand-up?

Dave Chappelle owns a house in a small town not far from here. My uncle lives in the same town and I happened to see the comedian just walking down the street when I was there to get the title for my bike signed over to myself from my uncle. Random celebrity sightings are cool!

How could you not love Chappelle? He's been famous for ages, even before Chappelle's Show. Anyone seen Half-Baked? |

Of course! The first time I recall seeing him, I think, was on The Nutty Professor...he was the comedian I believe.

There are plenty of stand-up comedians like this in Britain, they are just usually not as known.
Probably the best known is Ross Noble. Eddie Izzard also improvises to an extent but not as much.

I like Chapelle and old Eddie Murphy stand-up over any of those so-called "Kings of Comedy" (Cedric the Entertainer, DL Hughley, Steve Harvey).
