Were you expecting an Oscar caliber film? images/smilies/lol.gif

Watching the preview again, it does have that same big scale feel as the mummy movies. I'm still looking forward to it, should be fun.

It's a live action movie based on cartoons/toys, did you expect a masterpiece? Lower your expectations and have a little fun.

Uh.. i don't know what movies you saw but Deep Rising The Mummy and The Mummy Returns were fucking awesome action flicks not high art by any streach but still fun as fuck to watch

In regard to the trailer... looks pretty great but WTF no Destro?

Exactly, this is not supposed to be an awards contender, check your movie snobbishness at the door and enjoy some nostalgic childhood action fun.

Transformers was a mediocre movie, but I had a lot of fun watching it in the theater and rewatching it on bluray.

I had always considered The 2 Mummy Films as being in the same spirit as the Indiana Jones films, which is just "leave the brain at home and enjoy the film for what it is." this is pretty much the same thing. Looking forward to seeing it and interested to see how Cobra Commander appears in the film, especially since its Joseph Gordon Leavitt playing him (he was Tommy in Third Rock from the Sun).
Actually Destro does appear in the film, its Christopher Ecclestone playing him, you just don't see him in his metal face plate in the trailer (not even sure if it is in the film or if its case of like Dr Doom in the Fantastic Four movie where he gets the metal face plate at the end of the film).
As for films this year, Star Trek is still no 1 followed by Watchmen and Transformers.

I feel the need to note that when I saw the trailer in the theatre, it was met with derisive laughter (along with one guy going "what's next, Barbie?"). Methinks failure is in the cards for this one.

Though it was apparently directed by the janitor of my high school.

When I saw the trailer at the movies today, I thought it looked okay but the cast seems really mishy mashy, but we'll have to wait and see.
