Paying to download cars sucks. Way to destroy the franchise.

Damage for only race cars sucks too. Maybe they should reduce the number of cars, make them more detailed, and have damage for all cars. Seriously, I see no reason to have every single version of the R32 Skyline. I rather have one or two with damage.

I prefer if they just put or fix the AI in the game and then i will be happy. images/smilies/sad.gif I like GT, but i don't think i will buy a PS3, maybe a Go Kart since i rarely play the other games on my PS2 because i find it boring. images/smilies/sad.gif

my one hope is that downloadable cars means we will get to see some of the rarer perfomance cars out there like:

Audi S2
Audi RS2
Mazda 323 GTX
Mazda 323 GTR
Mazda Eunos Cosmo (the 90s triple rotor twin turbo)
Nissan Pulsar GTiR

I am really looking forward to this game. I love my PS3, but I can only play Resistance for so long.

Gran Turismo 5 could seriously make or break the PS3. I know the PS3 is already becoming a commercial failure, but a lot of people are holding out until a decent PS3 game is released. If it is rubbish, it could be the final nail in the coffin.

Apparently the slogan is now " The drive of your life " instead of " The real driving simulator ", or do they use both ?

i'm sure GT5 is going to be great. sony never disappoint with GT, so far i have loved every GT game. i don't have a PS3 at the moment, but if it turns out GT5 is really that good, it will push me into buying one.

the only reason i like downloadable cars is because it allows the makers to put new cars in. there were some cars that came out after GT4 was released that i would have loved to drive (TVR sagaris for example) but they couldn't add them.

Since i somehow suspect that you may be a Ferrari fan, Paul, do keep a lookout for Blimey's next sim - it's a Ferrari exclusive, and there are good chances that it will leave all other efforts in that direction standing.

For GT5, the only potential reason for getting a PS3, the make or break question for me is: is there a cockpit driving view? Is there anybody out there who knows about this?

looks ok, maybe its the monitor im using here at work, but that really does look like its got the same dull look as the GT games on the PS2

i dunno what it was about the PS2 but it seemed to have a hard time producing vibrant lively colours. its rendering always looked abit flat and dull.

GT4 looked great, but some colours looked really dull. these look the same, look at the sand and the green rumble strip...theyre very flat, dull colours, theres no life in them

R8 looks pimpin smooth tho

They've got interior shots in GT HD apparently

and this looks like a cockpit view to me, though it may not be from gameplay

Having a cockpit view in GT5 would be nice, but that still won't make me go broke buying a PS3.

Take a look at this video and discover it by yourself (Sorry it's in French :S). And also take a look at the photos from the first page of this thread.

Hmmm... I still can't see a cockpit driving view (like the second picture in bartboy9891's posting). Those detailed 3D cockpits seem like they're only for the showroom; every video of driving that I've seen has the no-cockpit-floating-instruments view. Apart from higher graphics detail and some variations in the pyhsics model, nothing much seems to have changed since GT1. The state of the art in sims is now a fully animated 3D cockpit with visual feedback of G-forces and look-to-apex etc.. Nothing less will do.

Well, if Polyphony haven't managed to bring the immersion to a 21st century level, I'm afraid I'll pass.

It is highly likely that there will be a cockpit view, as there have been those shots of a Ferrari in the past, and a very well modeled Audi TT inside and the work at a 300 SL cockpit in a video lately. Therefor, we know that they are making cockpits for cars, which would be kinda pointless if there was no cockpit view.

It'll indeed be good if they include that interior view for driving. I do find it very strange though, that this new and rather important feature is not showcased nor mentioned images/smilies/think.gif I mean, there's seeminlgy not anything else that's new, but a proper cockpit view would revolutionize the series.

PD has never been very "open" when it comes to news and new items in the game.

I REALLY think there will be a cockpit view. If they render the interiors even if it was for showroom only, they already have the car rendered from the inside, so they don't have to change anything in order to make the cockpit view. They only have to place the camera inside and that's all. Like it happens with TDU which the cockpits are rendered for the showroom at the same time they are used for the interiors.

Poliphony don't usually give much news or info about their GT's during it's developement. But I really think this year's E3 it's going to be decisive in making me buy a PS3 or an Xbox 360. And GT5 it's going to be the judge... :S
