Well, I agree that there shouldn't be such updating problems, as they knew when people would start updating. On the other hand, Prologue has sold and is selling incredibly well, which they probably underestimated.

In Europe, there were over a million pre-orders for Prologue. And here's a quote from a guy at a huge electronics shop in Frankfurt:
Quote:
We've sold as many Prologues in two days as we've sold Call of Duty 4s in one month. We're all sold out.

At the moment, we're selling twice as many PS3s as we well XBOX 360s.

Well, COD4 has been around a while and constantly outsold everything since it came out. So I guess he is referring to LAST month and not the month it came out. Still impressive...!!! Also impressively stupid not to be prepared for the 1 Mill+ users dling the patch at the same time if you know how many people PREORDERED it...

I updated my japanese Version yesterday. It took ages to dowload the patch (like 3 hours or so, felt like a gazillion), but it went through on the first attempt.

gt5p owners, how similar does it drive to the Japanese demo that came out a couple of months ago?

I agree, this is the best Gran Turismo experience yet. I'm currently on my way through the A-Class of races. C and B are a bit boring at times, but as soon as you get into cars like the Z06 and the M3, you really notice the difference. They're not only very close to what reviews have said in real life (actually, all cars I have driven in this Prologue so far have been), it's really really demanding to drive them properly. Now, you can't just stomp on the accelerator or the brake like in previous GTs. You really have to be careful and actually handle them. If you manage though, it's fabulous.

You really should have a wheel though, it surely is needed for realism. In cockpit view and on a nice screen, this does get very close to the most realistic sims out there now. And make sure you've got all the settings right (no driving aids whatsoever, professional physics and force feedback to the max).

It's absolutely fabulous, I'm having soooooooo much fun here! images/smilies/w00t.gif

EDIT: drifting still is hard though...

Finally I had enough time to let my PS3 download the update for the Jap version of the game. So I was able to download the episode of Top Gear. The quality isn't too good (SD quality) but it's not bad at all. The ep it's subbed un Japanese images/smilies/lol.gif

I haven't seen the whole episode yet, but as far as what I've seen it seems they are complete episodes. Which made me question one thing:

Because of the songs featured in the show, the BBC cannot release episodes of Top gear on DVD for legal reasons. How come they can appear on a playstation game??? What's different in this case??

As far as I know, there will be only this one episode for a limited amount of time without charge. Future offerings will cost some money (real money that is, not game credits), so they'll pay for the copyrights I suppose. Not sure about this though...

I guess its harder to rip episodes off the system, compared to the DVDs. It could also be a custom codec for videos on GT-TV making it virtually impossible to get the episodes, without a video capture device.

Is the quality better then the 700mb rips?

Nope! Definetly not. It's not even scaled to fit on a panoramic screen so it's on 4:3.
The quality it's not bad, but nothing compared to the rips we are used watch.

I don't know if it makes that much sense, but you should be able to get a Driving Force Pro for little money now. There will be the official GT wheel soon, and the G25 is great as well, but the DFP still is good (I use one) and comes quite cheap nowadays.

Anyway ... has anyone driven one of the tuned Elises yet? Let me just say...

Apparently even my old Logitech MOMO wheel works with the PS3 and at least GT HD. No force feedback apparently though.

Broadcasting via Inet or IP usually if handled through a different contract. German T-com could arrange for Topnotch soccer games to be broadcast through their IPTV system at a bargain, i.e. ... Nobody ever thought the system was ready for stuff like this!
