The one thing Forza does that curbs that is you only win the vehicle in the event once. Which partially curbs people from doing that.
Whenever I'm running low on GT4 cash, I have my "Stig" win the Laguna Seca 200, which nets 200,000 in prize money and a '69 GT40 I can sell for about 750,000 credits. I usually use the Jaguar XJR-9LM with super-hard racing tires on the back, and hard on the front. Then go off and mow the yard or take my girlfriend to dinner or whatever, and I'm back in business.

I found NFS Underground 2 in my stack of games recently, and realized I had never really played it. So now I'm trying that one. Funny how it sucks, yet still has better engine noises and tire smoke than GT4. The crashing isn't much better, either. The AI is a joke too. But you should see the size of the spoiler on my MX-5! images/smilies/lol.gif

What I particularly dislike in games like Need For Speed, Test Drive Unlimited, etc. is the fact that every time you want to accelerate from standstill you burn rubber for 3km, it's rubbish, I hate when games makes you do that.

Or when you're in manual, just pressing the loud pedal a little bit to NOT burn the tires.

Could it be true? Is it really out this month? I wasn't really expecting it until next year. If it is true then I need to get a PS3, whatever it takes. I'll also be buying Forza 3 though, I'll never be able to decide which one I should play.

Maybe not this month but possibly some time before year's end. We will probably find out later this month at Tokyo Game Show.

I'd say that's rubbish. If there was a date out it'd be all over the place.
Plus, gameplay often just sticks provisional release dates on pre-order items I think.

The only important date will be the official release date. Do not believe any shops. Also, PD already said that GT5 will be released after GT Mobile, which will see the light of day in October.

They've done that before so I'm not surprised. I'm signing up to the updates anyway so I'll see when they inevitably put the date back. images/smilies/smile.gif

x2

We won't have any GT5 release dates until TGS by the end of this month. And I'm still sceptic about that as they want to focus on the release of GTPortable and then tehy'll worry about GT5.

In the GTHD Concept that came out a while ago, I go top 50 because I put economy tires on a Ferrari and there were only a couple of hundred other people stupid enough to do so images/smilies/tongue.gif

EDIT: Oh yeah, congrats on your legitimate achievement. I could never drive the F1 car properly in GT4.

With the added excitement of the playable demo at GamesCom and our first look at damage, some pretty remarkable new features slipped under the collective radar. We’re going to put the spotlight on one of them today which could have an major impact on the racing game genre across platforms: “head tracking” with the PlayStation Eye.

The concept itself is simple enough -- it’s a camera that tracks the movement of your head -- but the results are breathtaking. If you’ve never seen this new technology in action, watch the following demos and you’ll quickly realize the implications of such a feature in Gran Turismo 5:

As we learned from Polyphony Digital’s website, you’ll be able to use this head tracking technology to manipulate the “cockpit camera” and presumably look through the corners and at your opponents with the simple turn of your head. From the translation (confirmed by Yamauchi):

“…the movement of Cockpit Camera interface (confirmed in full 3-D. The camera can be fully manipulated and you can opt to have your head tracked by the PSEye)”

The PlayStation Eye is already available for $32.99, but is not typically considered a must-have peripheral for most PS3 owners due to a lack of software support. That could change in a very big way, selling lots of additional Eye hardware for Sony in the process. For now, though, we could be looking at GT5’s “dark horse” in the race for consumer’s hearts, minds, and dollars.

Sure you can find 0.02 to get inside top 20, there's however, a bit of a downer, as some guy is 1.2s faster, - Luca Badoer Syndrome.
