Default Martin Scorsese's "The Departed"

http://thedeparted.warnerbros.com/
Has anyone else seen this? I watched it over the weekend and it absolutely blew me away! The film is 2.5 hours long, but there wasn't a single scene that was dull! By far, the best film I've seen in 2006.

Leonardo DiCaprio
Matt Damon
Jack Nicholson
Mark Wahlberg
Martin Sheen
Alec Baldwin

Do yourself a favor....watch this movie. images/smilies/thumbup.gif

Or, before you do, watch the original Hong Kong flick, "Infernal Affairs." The Depated is a remake/retalling of Infernal Affairs, but IA is a three-movie series. All three are very worth watching, although the first is particularly excellent and the third film is a bit confusing.

yup... Infernal Affairs is a great movie, watched Infernal affairs awhile back and just watched the Departed, both great movies but Infernal Affairs is much better than The Departed, it isn't that rushed and goes through more detail

I saw the movie last thursday and absolutley loved it.
Jack Nicholson always does a good job at playing the bad guy and DiCaprio wasnt too bad either.

Loved the ending too, lol.. images/smilies/wink.gif

The Departed is a compilation of Internal Affairs 1, 2, & 3... so it seems more rushed. Also IA has more drama in their characters... because Asians are mad good at creating drama...

I felt like some of the scenes were a little too forced in The Departed... like the director had to put it in some how, but it didn't flow well; unlike IA...

yea i was going to make a thread about this. The Departed was the best movie ive seen all year, one of the best ive ever seen. It flows soo well, the actors are waaaaaay better than i was imagining (wahlberg and DeCaprio especially), the story was waaaay more engaging than i was expecting and so on

go watch it

Yeah, my girlfriend wants to go and see this at the movies next weekend. I didn't think it looks that good and would be happy to wait until it comes out on DVD, or other internet means, but as it is probably either this or some awful chick flick I better take it. images/smilies/tongue.gif

Internal Affairs

Not the same!!

Haven't seen infernal affairs yet, but would really like too. Will have to search for that one.
The Departed only comes out in december or something here :/ It's 8.6 imdb score and enthusiastic comments here make the craving only worse :/

I saw the Departed last week, great movie, but the ending seemed a bit out of place, no base and no reason...

*Possible spoiler*
And the triple homicide was more a joke than serious, and if he was really working for Costello, why didn't his partner help him out before?
*end of spoiler*

the departed was very good, but thats no suprise since infernal affairs was already a very good film and the departed is just a shameless copy.
therefore i was quite outraged when i left the cinema...

That's what I thought. Maybe not so much outraged though.

Shameless? The director of Infernal Affairs originally wanted Scorcese to direct it, but he refused. I don't see shame in taking it on now, even though, of course, it is a remake. I thought it was good, although not as incredible as most others seem to think.
