| Squirrel Mincer | I can't believe there isn't a thread about this already http://www.meetdavemovie.com/ Went to see this today. Great movie! ![]() Very funny, and I couldn't fault Eddie Murphy's acting, especially playing two roles. No rubbish ending either. Fantastic! Spoiler Text: (Click here to toggle display) Discuss. I'm sure some of you have seen it. ![]() | |

Mama Mia more than doubled Meet Dave's box-office take, and it just opened Friday. It only made 13x the money of "Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson" and yet, it was on 53x as many screens. Meet Dave has a 21% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Speed Racer has a higher rating. SPEED RACER, FFS!?!?! What exactly makes you think any one of us would spend our money on Meet Dave over Batman, Hellboy II, Wall-E...anything! ![]() As a member of the Final Gear community, may I say that I'm insulted by your assumption. |

I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. | It all went horribly wrong for Eddie since he played that fat guy in The Nutty Professor. Since then everything has been super duper crappy. Sad really, his 80s standup bits were fantastic | |

Rep Power: 17 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The movie was alright, but probably and bit over edited that holes appeared, nothing cut from the story just scenes that could of been longer, but just moved on to another. Cut for time I guess.

| Yeah the film was just all right. Nothing hugely special for me either. The film is not bad to watch and it will give you time to crack up a bit. But still as I said something is missing... | |

| Squirrel Mincer | Whatever. This is the last time I post a movie thread... It was better than most of the shit that's on in cinemas now. Anyway, people should stop assuming it's going to br crap until you've seen it... |

| The Dark Knight, Hellboy 2, Get Smart, Wanted, Iron Man, WALL-E, The Incredible Hulk...shoot even Hancock and Kung Fu Panda look better than Meet Dave. | |
| | |

| Squirrel Mincer | Well I know some of those look better. The one's I don't think look very good myself are Kung Fu Panda (bad idea IMO), Incredible Hulk (not interested), Hellboy 2 (same again), Get Smart (never heard of it before) and Wanted (Bleh). OH yeah, and Mamma Mia (noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Pierce Brosnan singing) I think it just suited my sense of humour, and I have always liked Eddie, and I wasn't around in the 80's so I don't know what he was like then. I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion though. ![]() |

| Seen all those movies and meet dave was better than Wanted, Kung Fu Panda, Incredible Hulk, and Get Smart. The rest are big budget action movies and a pixar movie who rarely miss. | |

It stated in the 80's with Best Defense (which he admits he only did for the money) and The Golden Child. In the 90's you can blame Beverly Hills Cop 3 for setting the bar so low.

| There's no way Meet Dave could have been remotely better than those movies. You just have an incredibly poor taste in film. Steve Carell is a much better actor than Eddie Murphy right now. You probably don't even like or watch The Office. | |

| I don't huh? ![]() (and I've already pre-ordered the limited edition season 4) Sorry I don't automatically like a movie just because I like the lead actor. Steve was the only thing that made the movie watchable, I didn't like the last mimzy just because rainn wilson was in it. And you haven't seen it, you're just making an assumption. | |

| Downloading it right now, I'll let you know if it lives up to the hype you guys are giving it. | |

| Hype? It was entertaining and better than the rest of the shit that is out right now, far from a good movie. | |
