More Forza 2 Races?

I decided to go on Forza today after watching Jeremy driving the Nissan GTR (dunno why, I just did) and I was wondering what had happened to the Forza 2 races. The first league finished a long time ago, so maybe it's time to start up something new. I'm personally bored with Forza in single player mode.

I was thinking of something resembling a cross between the WTCC and the Britcar 24, which could work as a league, or as a bunch of separate races.

Basically we decide on a number of races (maybe 1 a week) and let one racer decide on the style and rules of that race. Lets say for example one week we have 3 short races in Porsche R4 cars, very similar to Touring Cars, and the next we have a 2 hour endurance race for vintage race cars. This could include a points system as I have said, as it does involve an amount of driver judgement on what car they will be using.

Secondary 'awards' could be given each week for Best Design and Best Engineered car (basically the fastest or most impressive car) to liven it up.

I considered suggesting a Live For Speed endurance, which I may do anyway as LFS is more flexible with the race, but Forza allows us to buy and customise our car (which is where this is similar to the TG entry in the Britcar 24).

Obviously we would need someone to front the races like last time, and if we were running entry restrictions we would need to have racers post their car specs on here to become entered into the race.

I think there's a huge potential for some fun, semi serious racing here.

I am 100% all for this!

The only problem is, I got Forza late and havn't had a ton of time to play, so my teammates would probably have to gift me a car if I don't/can't obtain it myself.

Other than that, let me go to Best Buy and swap my 360 for one that actually works and I'm good to go.

Edit: actually depending what time these races are held I wont be able to participate, I have to wake up at 4:30 in the morning every day for work so I sleep early

Same here, but it would make the race a bit closer, particularly the R4 Porsches.

I'm up for doing Time Trials but my internet is wank so I can't do online races.

I'd be down for smaller races but 2 hr enduro race would be a bit much. It's kind of hard to actually want to race for 2 strait hours just for the hell of it.

Also R series cars don't seem to be as fun, I seem to have more fun with A class or even B. Everybody gets z06 or something and is allowed the best suspension/brakes/aero/tranny than mods according.

Mildly related to this thread - I just did one of the R class endurance races.

I was driving the R4 #99 'Tiger' 'Vette on Road Atlanta for 35 laps. Race started fine with me getting into the lead and pulling away by 15 seconds (Medium difficulty). Then I had to pit, so most of the pack got in front of me (pit stop is approx. 38 seconds).

As I made it back through the pack, an NSX braked heavily in front of me, I tapped it and this damaged my front splitter. I know from the TG endurance race that this will reduce downforce and makes my tyres wear faster. I got back into the lead when they all pitting, but one car was still 18 seconds behind me.

By lap 30 I was around 30 seconds in the lead, but my tyres were starting to wear out quickly. I had to decide between pitting and risking losing the place, giving me only a few laps to catch the Viper, or stay out for the last few laps and hope I don't crash.

I held out to lap 33, but the tyres were really screwed and the car was sliding a lot. I was nearly fored to pit when the 'car behind' time showed 1 minute. The viper couldn't have pitted before in the race at all. Finally I sailed across the line and picked up me 360,000 credits and free Dodge Viper.

Hope you enjoyed reading that, it was one of the most exciting races I've had in forza (usually I'm in the lead and that's that). The 'Vette was great too.

Honestly, more time trial type races wouldn't be bad. My only suggestion would be that you must use the same car at the same level to keep it 100% even.

Well I'm not really liking the idea of doing time trials again, it got expensive and a bit tedious without actually racing against someone. I also find using the same cars very boring, because there's not enough variety (FWD, RWD, different top speeds, cornering ability etc.).

If we do decide to do something like that though, we will need someone to front it (I can't do it, because I want to compete) so maybe I'll have to have a word with Paddy (Cosworth) and see if he'll get involved in another league. We could also have a go at design comps if you want, as part of said league.

As far as racing goes, I could organise a race for tomorrow (Sat), Sunday or even Monday. I've checked the time zone for all the people who said they could race online, or didn't say they couldn't (Prost264, Das_Idiot, Seasonone, M3_Powered, Ahpadt and me of course) and the time zones range from GMT-6 to GMT+2. This does make it more difficult, but I could hold a race at 19:00 GMT to make it work for everyone.

The race I had in mind would be a test of your buying, upgrading and designing skills. You would need a pre-1970s car for the race, in B class with a max of 300hp (or something like that, haven't thought about it yet). Track will probably be Road Atlanta or Road America (if everyone has it downloaded). Here's one I made earlier, and this is what you'll be up against from me:



It needs some de-tuning I think to fit into the 300hp B class category.

Let me know what you think of this. It will probably be just one or two short (12-15 lap) races with an overall winner. I might find a car I can gift, I have quite a few exotics lying around (MC12 anyone?)
