I am picking up my pre-order today or tomorrow. I'm not exactly in a hurry. I already need to download the first patch. How long until 1.02? images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

Well, yeah, of course. That's because ATI is actually a graphics company. Their mobility series for example is decent, but you will get much better performance from a dedicated card.

ATI is a good company. There's nothing wrong with their drivers. I've had both nVidia and ATI cards (several of each) and they're both good images/smilies/thumbup.gif

Well...I went to office depot, and the only card they had out of all of those was the ATI Radeon x300SE. So I bought that.

Installed it, and the game works images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

On the down side, i'm not that impressed with the graphics etc. It's probably the card, oh well...you get what you pay for. images/smilies/oops.gif

SE stands for "sucky edition".....and an X300 is low on the scale besides. I wouldn't get anything below an X800 these days.

The game has gorgeous graphics (see the vid viper posted in another thread), but you need proper hardware. I'd take your card back while you still can images/smilies/wink.gif

I still don't know why so many complain about BF2? I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones who enjoys smooth gameplay without crashes.

I have 14 days, so i'll take your advice. I'll start shopping for something else.

The graphics on the card don't even seem as good as the intel integrated one.

Would this be better? (then the x300 and intel).

If you want a great card for a budget price, get the X800 GTO:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131007

It's under $90 suprisingly. I have a similiar card (mine is the Sapphire GTO2) and I can play BF2 with all the grpahic detail cranked on high.

It's way better than the X300 or X1300 and it perfoms almost as good as a 6800 GT, here's a chart to illustrate:
http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=538&chart=196

Just make sure your motherboard supports PCI-E cards.

If your Motherboard only supports AGP, here's pretty much the same card for the same price as an AGP version:
