Resident Evil 5 Demo

It's out now for Xbox live and PSN. I'm Dling it right now. Hope it's going to be as good as I think it will be.

Just got done with it. While I won't say it was crap, I'm not crazy about how you can't move and shoot at the same time. C'mon, it's 2009.

I don't like the "new" camera angle of the new Resident Evils, even though you would get stuck between cameras switches and die on the old ones I would still rather have it. It's not as good of a shooter as gears and hell I think Tomb Raider is more fun. Resident Evil died with 0 (or Veronica).

I don't like the "28 days later" zombies either. The best part about old Resident Evil was it's slow pace. You would walk down a hall way going "I know a fucking dog will come out of nowhere" than when he does you scream and cry for a few minutes than kill it. I don't mind Left 4 Dead with the occasional hunter/special zombie, along with dogs and various animals, but "fast paced shooter" isn't what Resident Evil is. And if it's what it wants to be than well I will save $60 and play more gears.

They have added some cool things, I like how in co-op mode you can separate from the other person and do whatever you want really. "I'll go get the moon key you clear ahead" rather than both players being forced to go get the key than go back. And I like how when you go in and out of the sun your eyes "adjust" so you can't see for a second... but not enough.

EDIT: That's what bugged me the most! I played it this morning before work and couldn't remember why I didn't like the controls. Hell Tomb Raider had a similar camera 10 years ago and you could aim and do that little skip jump around. Why can't I move around and shoot? Isn't the point of changing to over the shoulder to be able to aim better? If they are letting me aim better can't they let me move in a realistic fashion?

Played it with a friend and after we failed both missions a couple times we gave up. I didn't like it all that much as a RE virgin and my friend didn't like it as a RE veteran.

So if newbs and pros don't like it, it must be a bad game.

i played the Demo last night on single player and much like other people's posts the biggest problem i had was when aiming i couldn't walk around. graphically its good but gameplay is really where the demo falls flat on its face and i really hope there's some kind of tweaks done to it before it goes on general release.
having said that though, this is capcom and more than likely the game will get shoved out and the masses will still buy it.
was really hoping for another Resident Evil 2 style game.

IIRC the PS3 demo will be released the 5th of February (one week later). And about the 360 one I can't comment on it yet. Because it seems that if you don't want to pay to play online you can't download a simple and (as it should be) free demo.

My words exactly. I was expecting so much for this one, and then finished the demo going "Uh, ...well. Okay, then."

And like RE-0, during the mutliplayer, it's so annoying when all your partner does is go "Come on!", "Let's go!", "Come on!"

Like, "YEAH OKAY STFU."

And where exactly does this new chick fit in with the storyline, by the way?

i never got that far, i was mostly just trying to kill the big dude with the overblown axe. really not sure about the game mechanics in the game either. was talking about the demo with a mate yesterday and we both agreed that its a great looking game but the gameplay just fails so badly. also i found it annoying in continually having to pick up dropped items, it would be so much easier that additional ammo could be auto picked up.

Agreed. In a situation like that, you don't need to ask me if I want to pick up ammo....
