Default So what Forza 2 races are we doing, then?

As you know I've had lots of ideas for types of races, but all have met with mixed opinions, so here is a poll for the people to decide!

Please only vote if you have Forza Motorsport 2 and can play on Xbox Live!! I can see every voter!!! If you don't vote, don't expect to be included!!!!

Option 1:

A race league consisting of mixed car classes, powers and ages. Racers can spend as much as they like on a car, so long as it fits within the rules. Points will be the standard FIA points system (10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). Rounds will last approx. 25 minutes. Each weekly (?) meet will consist or two rounds using different cars. Racers may use arcade cars. Races will be career races.

Pros:
  • More rounds per meet
  • Varied cars and classes
  • Career money earned
Cons:
  • Potentially more expensive
  • Potential for runaway winners
  • Max. 7 racers in league

Option 2:

A race league using the same cars. Racers will start with a stock C class car in round 1, and after each round they will be able to make a limited number of upgrades to the car. Upgrades are chosen by the racer and define their league tactics (handling vs. speed images/smilies/wink.gif). The end of the league will be using maxed out cars as they have been upgraded throughout the league. No arcade cars allowed. Single rounds per meet to allow for upgrades and testing. career races.
Basic driver challenges such as fuel economy could be slipped in.

Pros:
  • Tactics involved might make for more interesting races
  • Same cars each time mean racers can compete more fiercely (images/smilies/lol.gif)
  • Cheaper for penniless racers
  • more choice of initial car
  • Cars get faster as league porgresses
Cons:
  • Arcade cars banned
  • 1 race per meet
  • less variation in cars and classes
  • Max. 7 racers in league
Option 3:

Single random races decided by me or the race winner, and not connected by any sort of league. Basic driver challenges such as fuel economy could be slipped in. Races will be exhibition.

Pros:
  • No league ties for people (more racers can compete)
  • Less serious races (stupid challenges)
Cons:
  • could become boring
  • no incentive to compete in all races
Okay, so you've heard the three options. Now vote! images/smilies/smile.gif

I will not vote unless there is a tie, in which case I will issue the deciding vote. It also allows me to see who has voted for what. and spank people who voted for option 3. Joke.

Done, now get on with it. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Ugh.. I want to do this so bad, but I know I wont have any time (going back to school next week).

I nominate myself as designated fill-in for those who have to miss a race. images/smilies/lol.gif

I quite liked your idea of a Top Gear Cheap Car Challenge Ripoff. Let's say you tell us which type of car to get (example: 80's german sportscoupe) and then we meet up for a number of challenges.. images/smilies/wink.gif

That met with the tumble weed when I suggested it, so maybe it's something we could do on the side for a laugh, but not as a realistic tournament. Let's see if anyone else sounds interested first.

Prost: Sorry to hear that, trouble is I can't just start races, because nobody will bother to turn up. images/smilies/sad.gif

Are you at school until about 4pm? I'll check the time zones. Before we can start I need to know who is competing and what time zone they are in, so I can fit the meet time around it.

You're welcome to be a fill in of course, and if you're a bit short of cash I can help you. images/smilies/smile.gif

The thing is I don't know how hectic my classes are going to be yet, I don't want to commit to this and not have any time or not show up.

Maybe I'll sit this season out and play career non-stop until I get as far as you guys. images/smilies/tongue.gif

Option two sounds good. But why don't we start with D class cars and build up to C class? that way we get a bit more variaty

also, I'm guessing that each race will be capped at a PI, correct?

Why max 7 racers? You can have 8 people in a game...

And I don't see why there has to be only 1 round per meet with option 2, I wouldn't mind having a second round even if it meant that you couldn't upgrade between every race; more races = better.

Yeah we can start at D class if you want. Upgrades will be capped by PI and the number of upgrades (so you can't just upgrade every handling option instantly. I may also say you can only upgrade 1 level at a time, which will slow upgrading down. images/smilies/smile.gif

I'll be racing aswell, so we can only have 7 other people. images/smilies/wink.gif

We could have 2 rounds with the same cars, 2 races without upgrading is fine. images/smilies/smile.gif

pshh, it's still 8 racers, unless you consider yourself something else images/smilies/wink.gif

Well we can have single races, but just make them slightly longer instead of having 2 races.

EDIT: Let's decide whether to go for D or C class.

I suggest C class, more options, and overall better cars, rather then the usual "GayRX" or Colbat roamers!

Yeah, class C is the way to go. Seems like we're going with that option. So far we've had 7 votes, and those 7 people will have 'reserved' places in the league over people who don't vote, if they actually want to race or course. images/smilies/smile.gif

I'm not going to end the poll early, but I'll start doing some 'official' rules and regs for the competition.

I have a car ready and painted (actually I have two, a D and a C, just to be ready). 15 minute paint job, but it's awesome and probably not original.

If anyone wants my FG vinyl (I posted a picture of it plasterred all over a sprinter trueno (lol) in the "more forza 2 races?" thread) add me and I'll give you like a civic or something cheap with it on it. Unlocked design, of course.

I'm glad that you've gone to the trouble, but I was thinking of having design as part of the development process. Basically you start out with factory paint, and then build up the design with decals of manufacturers involved in the upgrades. Maybe that's too much though.

Also, just to make sure, you know that the first race will be in completely stock cars. No upgrades allowed whatsoever, so the car must be C class to begin with. I still need to seriously look for my car. images/smilies/smile.gif

It's all stock, and the design basically just consists of a number. You could say that it's aesthetically in stock form... ok I'll just say it, I made a dirty car. It looks like mud splats all the way down the sides. images/smilies/wink.gif
