Spore is meh so far. The first part of the game is too short, and the space part just takes too damn long. I'm hoping that further on in the space part it will get nicer.... So far i'm glad i decided to try an "acquired" copy before buying it. Would've felt cheated had i bought it.

I was like a click away from buying it, but decided against it, it's getting mixed reviews and a lot of people are saying it's unfinished. I'll have to buy it some time if Maxis gives it the Sims treatment.

It's been fun so far, but it's not exactly intuitive when it comes to movements and camera, at least in my opinion.

The concept is pretty boring... but somehow I find myself wasting a lot of time playing it. Last I played I entered the civilization stage.

But I think it's gonna get boring fast. Unlike other Sim games, I can't see people going back and playing the game over again with new creatures... because who wants to be a friendly creature anyway? It's only fun if you keep attacking everyone, and that makes the game pretty one dimensional.

Good point, that's exactly why I don't ever end up replaying Fable when it crosses my mind.

I believe the space part is supposed to be endless, the game dosen't need to have an ending. From there on, it's a sandbox-stlye gameplay. I could be wrong though.

I'm already in the space stage, but it's gotten really boring. I keep getting attacked by hostile races and have to defend my colonies all the time. As soon as I jump a bit far away to set up a new colony or to look for artifacts, I get called back due to another attack... I want the superweapons so I can just wipe them out already! Unfortunatelly

I'm pretty much stuck at the tribe level. Theres one tribe I can't kill... and they can't kill me either. So we just keep attacking each other back and forth.

Oh you guys. You know it isn't a hardcore game, right? I think that's the reason why so many gamers aren't liking it... because it's not made for us. images/smilies/wink.gif

I haven't gotten to play very much yet, but I'm liking it. It's all about the editors, biznatch!

I'm not a "hardcore" gamer, but I dislike how all this fuss about custom creature creating is purely cosmetic. It's all about stats, and when you remove the creator there's nothing left.

Well, I discovered that paying the enemies is a fast way to end a war. I'm now spread out to 50 systems and just got the planet buster toy for my ship. I've also reached the center of the galaxy and spoken to steve, who gave me 42 instant teraforming tools (just add water), which made colonization of other systems easy. I think I've played as much as I wanted now. There's really no replay value in the game for me... :/

Tried it a bit and it's a good game, it's just not my thing. Too free form / creative. I don't excel at those kind of games.

Thus far i've gotten 2 creatures to the space stage in just 2 days of playing. I like how the editors work and stuff, but the building and vehicle creators get boring quickly. Building creatures is kinda cool, but it sucks that you cannot go all-out and make a 6-legged four-armed creature with lots of spiky things sticking out of it (tried it, hadn't got enough "money" left for the spiky bits). It's not a bad game, but it won't appeal to hardcore gamers. It will however, appeal to my wife, who is totally into these kinds of games.
