Default The King of Pop returns!

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned anywhere.

Quote:
For days rumors have circulated that Michael Jackson was startin' somethin'. And Thursday afternoon, before a couple of thousand screaming fans at London's 02 arena, the King of Pop revealed what has been referred to as "the worst kept secret in the world". Namely, a 10-concert residency beginning July 8 — his first full tour in 12 years...

Luckily I don't give a shit about what people do in their private life, so for me MJ will always be one of the greatest entertainers in history.

Might try and get some tickets.

I read in the newspaper he could earn up to $110M for the whole tour.

I wonder if he'll try and buy some of his things back images/smilies/tongue.gif

while i was doing dinner earlier today BBC News coverage had live coverage of the announcement (guess there was nothing more important going on in the world at that time) and all i saw was a bunch of people screaming their heads off, one bloke in particular... a grown man... screaming at the top of his voice, tears streaming down his face looking like a girl in a take that concert at the height of their popularity...
I'm a self confessed star wars nut but i'd never do this to George Lucas... well in fact i keep a sniper rifle ready and loaded just in case he decides to rename Star Wars to The Fantastic Adventures of Jar Jar Binks.

20 years ago this would have been cool, maybe even 10. Now he is just a child molesting weirdo with more problems than an American car who will be remembered as much for being the biggest train wreck in history as he will for having the best selling album ever.

At least after this I can stop hearing about him because frankly I am tired of him.

I find that hard to believe.

The Times suggested that the concerts - if sold out - would raise £15 million through ticket sales, not including things like venue hiring, staff, and so on.

here is the article

well i did notice that he said that these would be his final concerts in london. therefore it goes to say that he could do 'final concerts' in new york, berlin, paris, sydney and so on. he might earn a fair amount of money from the london ones, but if he continues on to do 'final concerts' then he could make a lot more money.

Michael is the shit, he's a legend, but seriously, who is waiting on a zombie trying to moonwalk and going 'woohoo!heehee!'. He's not the man he used to be. The Michael from the eighties, yes, I would to ANYTHING to see him perform, but the Michael as we know him now.. No thanks.

I thought he was suppose to be dying of some lung disease? I've got a feeling this won't be "it" for Michael Jackson, he will try to capitalize and make more money...

He's not even the court jester of pop much less its King.

Could he perform? You bet your arse.

But let's be honest, Quincy Jones made him what he is. Quincy is the Supreme Overlord of Pop with his mop topped fab 4 as the 4 puddles of the a-pop-colypse.

I'll play beat it usually on a Friday night at the local bar.... and a lot of kids my age will look at me and be like "What the hell is this this is lame"... While others actually "get it". Beat It is probably in the top 20 most badass songs of all time. Just imagine yourself walking into a bar with that leather jacket with the collar popped, sunglasses on, and beat it playing, then tell me you wouldn't feel like a total bad ass.

Not to mention Back to the Future II. Hoverboards don't work on water, unless you've got powaahhhhh.

And for that and the rest of that album he pretty much has a free pass for the rest of his life.

I'm hearing more and more rumours that he's going to playback the whole thing or hire a body double to do all of the fancy dance moves...

which is pretty fail...

and i'll bet that the legions of Jacko fans will still go in their millions to pay and watch it. sometimes i don't know where the entertainment comes from. Jackson with his misguided attempts to relaunch his long dead career or his fans who seem to have a obsession that borders on the Charles Manson Award for creepiness.

Agreed, everything went downhill after Bad.

He's irreparably damaged his legacy.
