| Well at the moment I'm hating time differences. The Ship is due out on the 11th of July, which is today. But it's not out yet. Now, it's available at 11am in Seattle, Valve's home base. Which is a bugger because I have to wait another 27 hours to play it. Bah. Anyway, there are probably a couple of people wondering what the hell i'm prattling on about. Quote:
It's a Source engine rendition of a HL1 Mod, but now the developers of the HL1 Mod have gone pro, set up Outerlight Studios and are about to release this one. According to people who've played the beta, this is a far more polished properly set up game (as you would expect from the transition from mod to proper stand alone product). Unfortunately I couldn't play the HL1 version, the old Quake II engine that HL1 was based on doesn't seem to like Windows Vista Beta 2. It'll be interesting to see how game compatability improves with RC1. Back to the point though, Source games do work. In other words, it's looking bloody awesome. The thinking man's FPS mixed with a 1920's murder mystery style setting. I'll be playing ASAP anyway. Without a doubt. Oh and if you're interested, you've got until 4am Australian EST on the 12th to save 5 bucks off the pre-order on steam. Which actually works out to be more than 5 bucks because it's 5 american bucks. For the people who still like to get boxes with their games, you have to wait until September before it hits retail shops.

| What else can I say? This game is a shipload of fun. Sorry that was terrible, I apoligise. But it really is. It's the thinking man's FPS multi. But it's not an FPS, as such, it's more of a cross between an FPS, Cluedo and the Sims. It really is fun, if you like FPS but sometimes think it's a bit mindless, as do I, you owe it to yourself to get this game. I've been playing it online for the last 4 hours solid, it's brilliant. Such a fresh take on a stale concept. And really, in the scheme of things. It's bloody cheap. They're adding a single player campaign mode in September too, which means it really is a full game for about 25 bucks. Get it. It's the best gaming value ever. Oh and Steam was perfect once again. I preloaded The Ship a few days ago, and just like HL2, when the game was available at 4am, I was playing it at 4:05. Brilliant.
