I think its trying to build mystery for the character, but I don't think he knew.
I think that the series is really going to be starting with the next episode, because now they got the ship to baseline, etc. They are in the ship, its fully powered, etc. Now the exploring can begin.

I think Rush was genuinely surprised (though anyone watching the show would have to be pretty dense not to have realised at the end of Darkness that the ship was flying into the star to recharge, but whatever) and that the point of the end was to add to the distrust the other survivors have of Rush.
Anyways, now that the ship's up and running and we've had some character development, can we finally have some aliens next week plox?

Am I the only one who's noticed two distinct standards of acting developing in the show, namely "Robert Carlyle" and "everybody else"?

Its the generic "Movie star in a tv show" problem tbh, he just outshines a lot of the cast. Not to say that the rest are bad, but that Carlyle is just in a league of his own.

Nope, because we're seeing the show thru his eyes and he pretty much reacts the way regular ppl like us would react in that situation, giving a show a little grounded reality in something so incredibly far out.

last nights episode reminded me of a mix of The Abyss and Aliens. still enjoying the series but really wish they would do away with this whole "destiny keeps going wrong" thing and went back to being 'out there' and 'exploration' that is usually a staple of Stargate. At the moment it feels like its trying to fill the shoes of Battlestar Galactica and it really needs to go back to being what Stargate was.

Damn, still haven't had a chance to watch the latest ep.
As an aside, I'm willing to bet the "communication stones" will get their own ep/controversy bit and then be done away with. They're a bit of a crutch at the moment, and it seems like they're only being used for character development instead of the usual flashbacks. |

This series is a major letdown for me.
Seriously, I expected something along the lines of StarTrek Voyager mixed with Battlestar Galactica or Stargate Atlantis, like, a more badass version of Voyager. I hade high hopes after they ditched Atlantis (which I liked a lot) for this, but I was mistaken ![]() Right now, it's a fucking soap in space. And not a good one. Just throw those FUCKING STONES into the spacetoilet and FLUSH fgs! Oh, and flush that senators daughter out too, because she is annoying as fuck. Actually, the whole real "story" part that happened concerning the Destiny would fill ~0.5 BSG episodes...I really hope it improves, otherwise all the nice effects won't save this show.

I'm about to haul SG: SG1 out of the cupboard and watch it instead. Between SG:U and the end of SG:A (why can't they close any of these series down properly???) I think I've finished spending $ on the franchise (even internets $).

On the other, I am really hoping the Goa'uld / Replicators / Asgard don't show up any time soon. Atlantis was relying really heavily on the Replicators, and it showed. I've no objection to aliens, just...new ones. Interesting ones.

I would be ok with humans living on planets they encounter.
