Default Tom Cruise ruined Will Smith

Quote:
Will Smith has joined the ranks of Hollywood power players actively recruiting for the Church of Scientology.
Big stars traditionally distribute "wrap presents" to crew members after completing a film. His recent gift after wrapping next summer's comedy "Hancock" was a card good for a personality test at your local Scientology center.
Never mind that such tests are given free by the church anyway. The quiz is designed to convert people to the religion by identifying personality flaws that - surprise! - Scientology can fix right up for you.
Smith, who is best buddies with Scientology booster Tom Cruise, has never confirmed that he joined the church. But he told "Access Hollywood" last month: "I was introduced to it by Tom, and I'm a student of world religion. I was raised in a Baptist household. I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98% the same ideas of Scientology, 98% the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism."
98% of Scientology is the same ideas that are behind Hinduism And Buddhism.. Okay

It is described in more detail in the accompanying confidential "Assists" lecture of 3 October 1968 and is dramatized in Revolt in the Stars (an unpublished screenplay written by L Ron Hubbard during the late 1970s). Direct quotations in this section are from these sources. (See also Scientology beliefs and practices)

Seventy-five million years ago, Xenu was the ruler of a Galactic Confederacy which consisted of 26 stars and 76 planets including Earth, which was then known as Teegeeack. The planets were overpopulated, each having an average population of 178 billion. The Galactic Confederacy's civilization was comparable to our own, with aliens "walking around in clothes which looked very remarkably like the clothes they wear this very minute" and using cars, trains and boats looking exactly the same as those "circa 1950, 1960" on Earth. Xenu was about to be deposed from power, so he devised a plot to eliminate the excess population from his dominions. With the assistance of "renegades", he defeated the populace and the "Loyal Officers", a force for good that was opposed to Xenu. Then, with the assistance of psychiatrists, he summoned billions of his citizens together to paralyze them with injections of alcohol and glycol, under the pretense that they were being called for "income tax inspections". The kidnapped populace was loaded into spacecraft for transport to the site of extermination, the planet of Teegeeack (Earth). The spacecraft were identical to the Douglas DC-8 with the exception of having different engines... And it goes on.
... Right..

So, now i can't watch Will Smith movies anymore, thanks Tom Cruise you douchebag! If he and John Travolta keeps this up i can never go to a move again images/smilies/mellow.gif

I don't really care what religion the actor follows. If you really want to get down to it most of the major religions out there have killed many more and are just as crazy if you take the stories to be literal.

It's not a religion! It's probably the most dangerous corporation in the Western World.

meh, it's no less plausable than any other religion only that it was "discovered" 50 years ago as opposed to 2000 years ago

Unless a guy walking on water is more plausable than a spaceship

I kinda liked him, he doesn't seem like a piece of shit person
like so many other current movie stars. His movies were mostly crap though.

This situation reminds me of John Travolta, when he was outed as a scientologist,
he made a bunch of 90's movies where he always stars as some sort of great guy
who has special powers, but is a down-to-earth sorta person ( Phenomenon, Michael )... Will Smith seems to be re-doing Michael, only instead of a funky angel from heaven, Will stars as Hancock, the grumpy superhero hobo or something.

I couldn't care less what religion he is, or what he believes. Fresh Prince is still one of the greatest comedies of all time.

People caring about other people's religions is what creates wars and problems in the world (on a very basic level...so I say what ever floats his boat).

It's not even remotely similar to either Hinduism or Buddhism or Christianity.
Those three aren't very similar either. Even the faiths which are based on almost identical traditions ( Judaism, Christianity and Islam ) aren't similar at all.

Im not saying that the story behind Scientology makes a lot more sense than say Christianity, but can we please stop calling it a Religion? Germany got the right idea America are just too scared of getting killed / sued if they try.

If Will Smith had converted to.. I don't know, some bullshit religion i'd just think he was rather foolish but being a active member of Scientology means he's either fucking retarded or a money grabbing whore, the huge amount of money he is going to spit into Scientology is being used to further cushion the life of it's top people and at the same time keep down any criticism with their horde of lawyers.

Seriously stop calling Scientology a religion.. It just isn't

The celebs who slavishly fall in line with this crap are irresponsible dupes for not doing their homework on the group. I feel sorry for fans of the celebs who become involved in scientology because their favorite actor/musician/whatever happens to be a scientologist, and then subsequently fleeced and abused by the organization.

The cult is being banned in germany due to repeated human rights violations. In the states they have a massive PR and lawering machine to cover up their illicit actions - but in spite of all that cover up, the fact remains that what they are doing on a regular basis is essentially fraud, harassment, and extortion. In spite of this, the family of a victim of scientology's mistreatment was awarded several million dollars in a settlement not that long ago. So they do occasionally get caught with their pants down and have to answer for their crimes
That explained it better than i could.
