Meh, from the trailer I don't see the desire to be connected to a surrogate. I mean yes my computer can be called a surrogate, as right now I'm interacting with you guys through it, but I'm still connected to the real world as well.
I don't know I guess I'm nit-picking, my main concern is the director, U-571 was a good movie, but the guy totally butchered T3. Also look at those robots, they look silly and were not realistic enough.

sorry to bumb the thread from 4monhts back, BUT i went to see surrogates.
i liked it, depression is the feeling from Bruce Willis and this character (and many other his work also), but the movie was good 1,5 hour film. Rating: 1 or 2 below "Yippie-Kay-yee Motherfucker" |

I saw it too...
Nothing special in my opinion. It could've been better. But it wasn't bad either. It's not the movie that it's worth seeing the first day it comes out in theatres. More of a movie that you watch on DVD with your friends, relatives etc...

I thought it sucked. It doesn't make sense that all these people would want to connect to a Surrogate. It makes sense for the military and people with dangerous jobs. But for people like Bruce Willis's character's wife, there's really no point in using a Surrogate. Overall, maybe a 4/10. Don't waste your time or bandwidth.

saw it yesterday and i think it will be gone soon, i won't even remember it properly. shame really... i gave it 7/10 on IMDB. it's not a movie one would expect from bruce willis, too much to think about, not as straightforward as i'm used to. |

another formulaic sci fi thriller, not an original moment in the entire film, it looks and feels like another version
of I,Robot from a couple of years back, which was a rehash of something before that, etc. etc. It's so predictable to any fairly regular moviegoer, it quickly becomes boring. The real suspension of disbelief here is you trying not to mind the fact you've just paid to see the same movie you saw a dozen times before. I think there's a contract somewhere, saying that Hollywood must annually ( and it seems anally ) churn out a certain number of movies which demonize technology, A.I and the idea of something resembling a utopia. Even if I get over this annoyingly repeating idea that the system we currently live in is far better than anything else, we're left with a movie that's actually less dynamic and less interesting than watching the same type of film from 30-40 years ago, like "Soylent Green" or "Logan's run".

Dang - I was hoping for a good flick. I helped on the reshoot (the car chase goes longer and has more establishing shots) and it looked interesting. . . but then again I didn't go see it right away.
[on I Robot] I thought Proyas' version of Asimov's three rules was a great (if slightly antiseptic) telling. I just wish Smith's character was more broken in the beginning. Being surrounded by the thing you believe is the cause of your suffering can't be easy. A little more rebel without a cause would have done it for me. Logan's Run? I love it too, but it was never a good movie. . . although the sex circuit was a great idea.
