Default Trailer for "The Day the Earth Stood Still"

Looks interesting, I'm willing to give it a chance.

I hate remakes in general and I loved the original movie. But I didn't really understand the trailer, does it have the same plot as the original? Connelly looks great as always btw.

I've never had a problem with remakes. If it's good then it's good and if it's bad then it's forgotten.

There are a few remakes that I quite like, Oceans Eleven and Scarface for instance. But in those cases, I'd never seen the originals which I heard weren't very good to begin with. I'm excluding movies like The Magnificent Seven and A Fistful of Dollars, because I see those as reinterpretations instead of remakes. But I have yet see a movie, which I like, and a remake of that movie, which I also like.

After putting up with a remake of my favorite movie, Planet of the Apes and the most recent Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake, I don't think the atmosphere of classic Sci-Fi films translates well into modern movies. I feel like people are just milking some recognizable names as an excuse to promote the next new action/adventure.

Dear god that looks absolutely dreadful, the plot looks like it has nothing to do with the original film at all. I think I'll be giving this one a miss when it comes out.

Nukes aren't the big worry today. The plot will be similar but modified, what is the point of just remaking it word for word.

It'd be funny if the movie was about global warming potentially destroying the earth.
