Default UK Commercials Question

So I've been watching "A Chopper Is Born" and noticed that like TG & FG, they have 2 parts. Is this the UK standard? Just one set of commercials 1/2 way through the show for like 5-10 minutes of commercials all at once or something?

If that's the case, that's incredibly retarded, from both an advertiser's perspective and a person watching TV's perspective.

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

Oprah has commercials every 5 minutes here...

I'd prefer that than what we get over here.

Was watching this new show that was on for 2 hours. Literally the show was on for 3 minutes and the commercials were on for 4-5 minutes. In the end it was like a 55 minute show.

I get really pissed off. This is why I don't watch TV anymore. I download instead images/smilies/smile.gif

I like the way the commercial breaks are handled during bigger movies like Spiderman etc. You can see the first 40-45 minutes of a movie without one, so you have time to get into the story etc. Afterwards they are doing 5 minute commercials in 25 minute intervals.

next commercial

It's nice I guess if you wanna go grab a drink or something, but if you want to keep watching TV, you're stuck with commercials.

Over here, all of the commercials don't line up. I can easily just change channels and watch something else while the commercials are on the channel I'm watching.

TiVo solves the commercial problems for me. Its interesting that all of the commercials are in the middle of a program, but i definitely can't stand the commercials right after the show starts (like with south park, they play the intro, go to commercial for 2 minutes, and come back to the show). TiVo fixes that for me images/smilies/biggrin.gif.

It's perfect for the British way of life, it takes about 4mins to make a good cup of tea and get comfy again. besides if you don't want tea you can always flick to a music channel (never line up) or a BBC channel as they have no adverts.

I can't stand american ad breaks, I download an unedited ep of simpsons once and there were 5 breaks!!! it made the program 50 mins long!!!! an ep of the simpson is only 25mins. It makes it totally unwatchable. No wonder you have so much ADD images/smilies/wink.gif

I agree. I never watch TV anymore because of the ads. It certainly can't be making the american population any smarter.

I hate the way American TV is with all the commercials - I get it on some Sky channels with adverts like every 10mins - it's a nightmare. Over here 30min progs have 1 ad at 15mins and 1hr progs have 2 ads at 20min & 40mins usually.

Unless you're watching the BBC naturally - which is an awesome network. images/smilies/smile.gif

I agree, the BBC and PBS as well. The only TV worth watching.

Well, okay, the Speed channel isn't too bad. images/smilies/smile.gif
