Default Which satellites transmit which program?

Hi,
I was wondering which satellites transmit Top Gear and Fifth Gear? Is it Hotbird or Astra for BBC, and Eutelsat for Fifth Gear?

Look it up.
http://www.lyngsat.com/
The Frequencies section works best.
And yes, BBC is on Astra2 28.2E

EDIT: But you'll need a HUGE dish to catch it. And you'll have to be in southern norway to even get the beam. And I don't even know if the transponders that serve SKY actually broadcast the BBC original programs ... all I see on the southern beams are so-called "streams". I'm not in europe, so I can't test, anyone here that tried it?

Thanks for verifying BBC. I was hoping it would be less far east images/smilies/smile.gif I think Five is on 16 east on the Eutelsat according to lyngsat.com.

Ive got a pretty big dish (43"/110cm) which is supposed to catch 19 east so I will see if I can figure out a way to test it at 28.2 east as well. Worth the try just for fun.

Yes, but Five is scrambled on that sat ... PowerVu, assuming Lyngsat is up to date. So you won't be able to receive it.

The second problem is that you can catch 19 East (Astra 1) across all Norway. However, 28.2E (Astra 2) does not transmit across all Norway. Just take a look at the beam link (last column) for the transponders serving the BBC streams ... it barely catches the south of Norway ... the dish would be enough, but if it's not getting a signal, there's no point. So again, hope you're in southern Norway.

Just an update that I have managed to find Astra 2 with excellent signal quality @ 28.2 east. However I have an old crappy tuner so I have not been able to tune in all channels yet. Waiting for a new tuner to arrive and then hopefully I will be able to find the BBC programs images/smilies/smile.gif

Btw, the Audi Channel is quite nice.

Five should become FTA at some point over the coming months. Currently they are tied to $ky, so although they are FTV, they aren't FTA. Channel 4 was the same though, and is now pick-uppable.

It's all since Freesat launched in the UK, check out my blog (in sig) as I'm currently putting together a PC to receive all the freesat stuff but to also give PVR functionality (no PVR's available for Freesat yet...)

Sorry for my stupidity, but you mean you guys can get free overseas TV with just a sat. dish?

Basically only 1% of the 10% of the 4 million population who live in landed houses have sat. dishes. So...
