| I just started reading this. Man, I can't put it down. I like how it takes a look at the world as if zombies would be a real entity. Government actions, blame, it's very cool. It does not focus on one person, or a single group of people, but a collection of interviews of what they had gone through. If you like this sort of stuff, read it, it's been great so far. | |

| read it last year. one of my absolute fave books. if you get the chance have a look for the audio book. it uses a full cast such as Jurgen Prochnow, Alan Alda, Mark Hamill and others to really give the feel of the thing legality. when i read it i couldn't help but feel that if there was a Zombie outbreak this is exactly how or as close to as how it would go down. especially the whole Battle of Yonkers, that was one part of the book i just couldn't stop reading. also for the past year now they've been talking about making a movie out of the book with J. Michael Straczynski (of Babylon 5) writing the script. really should read it, its a great book. | |

| Have you guys also read the Zombie Survival Guide by the same guy? It's a really good book as well. | |

| I read the Zombie Survival Guide First, then I read WWZ. I honestly think that's the way to do it. I couldn't put either down. Defenitly my favorite books.

It's the first in a trilogy, but the second and third really suffer from 'diminishing returns'.

| haven't read the survival guide yet and it is high on my list of books i have to get. i mostly like WWZ because it's got that 'feel of authenticity' about it. | |

| I have issues with the survival guide. He says you should use throwing stars of guns. I disagree. A lot. Anyway, if you like this sort of thing. Also get "Day by Day Armageddon" It is written by a US Naval officer, so a lot of it is very spot on as far as military action and what not. It's written in journal form, so it's a fast read. | |

Rep Power: 54 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Finished reading World War Z. It's a fantastic book - it's a really interesting style he's used and he's pulled it off very well. The only small niggles I have are that I wanted more details about some little things - the zeppelin corps, for example.

| perhaps there's a possible sequel on the way? about the recovery. personally i'd like to see Max Brooks do another novel on the storyline but just do it from the perspective of 1 person as the world just goes insane and to hell.

At one point he mentions the British idea of "armoured highways". I want to know what these are and how they are effective against zombies!

| my guess was that the armored highways were like highways with either massive walls or using heavily armoured vehicles.

| I'm working my way through The Zombie Survival Guide as a sort of precursor to WWZ. I wouldn't call it completely enthralling, but it's a good way to spend a relaxing hour or so a day progressing through the book. I've ordered WWZ following the good comments I've read in this thread and other research so I'm looking forward to that . | |

| keep a eye out for the audio book version as well, its well worth it. adds another layer of atmosphere to the book.
