Anyone care to explain the crazy British road paint stripes to me?
And what's this Honda Legend thing? Is it the same as an Acura or something?

The one from the contest in this episode. What color of double stripe means no waiting or something.

Oh right, Double Yellow lines means no stopping at any time. In the centre of London their are also some Double Red lines which means absolutely no waiting, i.e. not even ambulances etc. can stop there.

This episode was good. The C6 test was kinda cool. Altho with those low profile tires the ride height difference was probably not as big as the old DS. The Honda Legend is the US Acura RL. It should be faster than the 530i and the A6, it has a 300hp V6, but I guess it's the same problem as most of the Honda cars, it's way under tired. If it has wider and grippier tires it'll probably be closer to the 530i's time. The Japan car dealership segment was cool, but not as good as the road side service station segment (from a few eps back) tho.

Is it wrong of me to want to like the C6? I really do like the styling of it and it looks so comfortable inside. Eww I feel dirty just typing that - I need to go gargle with Toilet Duck. Finding a car I fit in comfortably is not easy - and finding a stylish one is nearly impossible. The C6 seems very good in those respects but I do have some reservations. It's apparently gutless on the power and let's face it - it's French. So it has poor build quality, gizmos and gadgets galore, and plenty of space. Why is this car not being sold in the US?
As for the Honda Legend. I am pretty sure that the "Acrua" badge only exists in North America to get away from the stigma of Honda being a "budget" car. They don't want their high end cars to have an H on the front. No where else in the world has the tradition that US makers do of having the same car badged as a Ford, Mercury and Lincon even though it's just a different trim package.

If they get rid of all the Vicki segments and replace them with more Tom, 5th gear would be about 27 milllion times more watchable. Is it me or does she like the sound of her own voice a bit too much. That whole road rallycar segment was completely pointless, and there's more to come

Not a bad episode - though I think others this series have been better. Tom's report on Megaweb was the standout - that place is just amazing. The C6 report was interesting - but I truly can't stand cars with that much front overhang (that means you Peugeot 407).
For once I didn't mind Jason's story - let's have Honda put that AWD system in a decent chassis and see what it can do. As for choosing a Legend over a 5'er or A6 - err it's not going to happen Honda, even if it could lap as fast as them. Enjoyed VBH's rallycross report - though that's probably because I'm a huge fan of the sport... As for the 'kill the MB bit' - didn't really grab me, but it hasn't done so since the first instalment. The Mini segment was, however, a total waste of time.

I enjoyed the Tom sections as usual. Seems he's the only one left in the team who actually knows how to be a motoring journalist.
VIPER: re: the stripes - as far as understand it, no stripe means you can park there, one stripe means you can only park there on sundays and two stripes means no parking at any time. |

VBH bugs me a fair bit sometimes - mainly when she squeaks! The rallycross bit was ok, but the merc bit had a definite echo of top gear.
Tom's bits were good - the Jap car dealership definitely looks worth a visit if you're out that way, and he made a dull car entertaining with the C6 review. I hope I win the R32

Wasn't this episode supposed to be the one with Tiff in D1? Tom's segment was ok but the rest was a bit boring...Also didn't VBH look 10 years older in this ep than in the previous ones?

Why do you guys hate Vicki so much? I'd rather look at her than Jason and his big schnozz.
Vicki is the only reason to watch 5th Gear. |
