Jasons bit was hilarious images/smilies/tvhappy.gif
And the reliants - hysterical! images/smilies/lol.gif Tom must have gotten a pretty good beating from that images/smilies/blink.gif
Also good to seee Vicki have some fun again.
Tiff giving a couple of Porsches some stick, well...

That tank segment was no fun - I never understood the whole let-a-dull-celebrity-indulge-in-something-dull thing images/smilies/wacko.gif If there was anything else, I've forgotten it already. Hmm, I think I just forgot Tiff's Porsche driving too....

Great ep! Ignore the Figaro and tank bit (which went on for too long), and the rest was hysterical. Never laughed so hard watching FG before--too bad all the FG haters will say that the Robin Reliant idea was lifted from TG. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Glad to see Vicki get to do a proper road test for a change.

I would have to second that. Best episode yet because of the stupid reliant robin segment. i was laughing so hard when tom rolled.

Great ep. Loved most of the segments. Jason's review of the Jag was good, and I agree with the points he made. The interior looks dated, and the front facsia doesn't really look that good (I prefer the old one).

The celeb on the tank segment was actually funny, I'm surprised that the tank was only $50k Pound.

The race car challenge was great. It was actually funny, I really lol'd when Tom's car tipped over so many times. And Johnny's anti-roll skates was genius.

And finally the Porsche GT3 RS + Tiff's driving = win.
Love the new VXR, if that's the GTO we're going to get the GM is on the right track. 414hp, rwd, practical, and it seems like it's a lot of fun to throw it around.

Based on some of the comments here I decided to download it this week and boy was I disappointed.

I skipped the whole tank, strong man, whatever bit. That sort of mindless dreck really bothers me. So what did that guy pull the van with in the end? His teeth or his penis?

The Robin bit was horseshit. It really had a lot of potential but I thought it fell flat. It felt like it was building up to something that never really arrived. And this whole segment felt like it was made from bits and pieces collected from the Top Gear cutting room floor.

The VXR8 review was weak. I've read a wee bit about this car but this was the first video I've seen of it. I had a lot of questions and was wondering about many things but she basically just went around a corner and then down a runway, no? Fucking awful.

Tiffs segment sucked as it usually does these days.

and then it ended.

although alot of it did seem like id seen it all before on a certain BBC2 motoring show i have to say fg last night was a riot, especially the reliant robins...that was gold

i loved jasons review of the jag too. dom jolly wasnt bad, the other geezer was a load of rubbish, the VX8R review was a bit too short and so was the porshce one and we didnt realy see much of tiffs driving i thought

any way looks like tom and johnny really do get on well, great chemistry

See, I feel the opposite. I feel like the 'people behind the scenes' like the director or writer or whatever are really pushing them together to try to get that whole 'bumbling idiot friends' thing going on like on Top Gear. I thought it felt a bit forced.

I'm sure their segments together will just keep getting better and better but at the moment it feels like a buddy movie where the two actors aren't proper buddies. Like that movie Chris Farley did with Mathew Perry.

Holy crap are you hard to please! This is a car show mate, certainly not many of those. Would you rather be watching some cheap reality show or something? How about some appreciation?

Anyways I thought it was a good episode. Jason's Jag review was funny, I then skipped the Dom Jolly and Strongman bits, but Vicki's review was cool, the Reliant Robin bit was fun, and Tiff's segment was cool as well. My only problem was that Tiff's segment was WAAAYYYY too short. They should have left out the stupid strongman crap and lengthened Tiff's segment so he could give more thorough reviews and more driving footage.

Yeah I agree with you guys, it was an excellent episode. Up there with the first ep of the series images/smilies/thumbup.gif

Jason's review of the Jag was quite good. I agree that the styling looks like an afterthought on this facelift. I prefered the 'old' one. The side grills look desperate on that car, but I do like those wheels.

I love the Jag XJ! I don't care if its design is dated and if it doesn't handle or have as many toys as Mercs, Bimmers and Audis - I still want one (despite my age!).

Vicki's review was also good. I didn't mind her squeeling so much because she was certainly putting on a show for the cameras. I would have liked her to go into more detail regarding the cars agility because there has been some debate over that. Also, I would have liked her to have given her opinion on the interior, because she really didn't.

Tiff's review of the GT3 RS was good but should have been so much better. I could swear they must have run out of time and had to trim it down a bit before it went to air because that was a bloody abrupt ending I rekon.

The tank bit was cool (but long). Love Trigger Happy btw!!

The Jonny v Tom segment was pretty funny. I can't believe Tom rolled the thing over in just showing Jonny lol haha.

Appreciation for what? It stank!

lemme break it down with this seldom-used feature:
  • The car reviews really were weak this episode with little detail or info; The Jag is just a facelifted model - no real need to test it in the first place and Jason with the old man bullshit was just pointless and sad. But I did agree with many of his points! Viki skimmed through the VXR8 test and manged to make a molehill out of a mountain and the thing with Tiff? Every week he does the same exact shtick. "We'll give Tiff some sort of car - whatever's handy - and put him on a track with it. He'll poweslide it and the putzes in the audience will eat it up." I really can't stand the fact that they think I'm that easily amused.
  • The 'comic relief' segment wasn't very funny. It had it's moments but really, who cares abut these guys and their wacky antics? Test some bloody cars already - And do it well this time! and I'm dancing around the obvious here: It's a total rip-off of Top Gear. A couple of bumbling idiots, Reliant Robin, modifying crappy cars to compete in a race, sight gags, everything going pear-shaped etc etc. It's like they watched a few eps of Top Gear and thought to themselves; "How hard can it be?"
  • And the stunts and what not? I used to get a kick out of that kind of thing when I was about ten years old. Seeing a man pull a van with... his ass 'n' genitals or whatever it was he pulled it with in the end... isn't the least bit entertaining. I'm a grown man for God's sake.

I remember when my high standards and elitist attitude were getting me into trouble at the end of Top Gear season 9 when I was complaining that it had become absolute garbage and that the car reviews were light & rushed and the 'comic stuff' was dragging on too long and lacking humour. A number of people were suggesting that I should 'get over it' or 'stop watching' or 'go fuck a goat you whinging son of a bitch' but most people tended to say the same thing: Watch 5th Gear instead.

Yeah, well... 5th Gear seems to be heading in the same direction as ye old Top Gear.

I'm so disappointed with the Tiff bit, as we all know Tiff can do better than that, yes we do like to watch power drift but more review on how does the car handle is even better.

Those tripod car thing, hahha I laught my head off seeing Tom rolling over and over again.

And I think it is a good idea of the Jason bit, but may be he could expand it a bit more, like doing the review in the voice of an old man images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Overall is good, at least I see some creativity in the program, not just coping what Top Gear has already done, but having said that, there are areas that they can improve on.

I loved this episode. FG is slowy tuning the format. What it needs to do is get rid of useless stuff and have just car reviews, however slow or boring the cars are. That's the winning formula imo.

I agree on this specific point, but aren't you being just a tad austere? How can bumbling idiots rolling over and over in their hopeless souped up reliants not be funny? At least this one time - I've never seen that before images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Is it just me or was there a person sitting in the vans driver seat when that bloke pulled it? I could of swore I saw a face as the camera angle switched for a split second.

I don't like Vikki or the VXR8 for that matter so I used that time to take a piss.

Tank bit was crap, if that wanker came round my neighbourhood saying he owned the place he'd be shot. Tank or no tank.

The Robin bit was hilarious. Johnny's Robin looks awesome and Tom clearly had "fun" rolling about in his Robin.

GT3 RS review was OK but should of been longer, the Tank crap had more time.
