Were these Formula Student cars in the shop where the octane boosters were presented? Sure looks like it, rather shabby ones though.

WARNING TOBIAS: In this episode Vicki is wearing pigtails and the tightest jeans in the world. Mind you don't do yourself an injury!

The Auto vs. Manual bit was interesting. I wasn't really expecting that outcome.

The fuel additive thing was very interesting because I'm a big sucker and I buy those things all the time! Well, I used to buy them all the time. I've actually used that very same STP one in my car. It claims to 'clear away carbon deposits and build up' and I do believe it did that because while I was running it a lot of chunky wet black shit was coming out of the exhaust and staining the garage door in the morning. After it had all been run through there was less smoke from the exhaust and the car ran more smoothly...

The Fiat 500 is cool and unpretentious. I like it. I hope they sell it here.

The kit cars were quite impressive but kit cars aren't really my bag.

That blue supercar thing with the name I've already forgotten looked a bit dodgy in my opinion. I can't imagine it'll do very well sales-wise. It could find a nice little niche tho. Maybe rich people who race in production car cups or something.

The Bowler segment was fun but again it was all very reminiscent of Top Gear...

The dragster was sweet! Would have been nice it they broke the record when the camera was there but it was never realistic that it would do it with the extra weight of what's his name.

It was a good episode overall which was a pleasant surprise because I usually think this show sucks.

cool they liked the 500. I mean, in Italy it's already a big success and you have to wait 6 months to get one of those but I'm looking forward for the european market and most of all for Germany and UK and review like this could help the sales.

Looks like Fifth Gear is back to its old ways.
Not one segment really got me going. Vicky driving 2 silver front wheel drive cars (ie who cares?)
The Gumpert bit was boring as hell ... and why do they always have to complement Tiff's parts with "oooh, I never tire of watching him drive".
And the dragster ... Johnny is usually my favourite presenter, but this time he pretty much had nothing to say because drag racing is so utterly boring, unless you're actually driving.
Bowler drove around in circles ...

Not an episode I'll be watching again, that's for sure.

Tiff seems to be pulling some very short and boring tests lately...they are all like:
"blah blah blah, 500 horsepower, blah blah blah Lamborghini, blah blah blah blah racer. *footage of car slightly sideways* steering feedback blah blah blah blah *car goes by making noise*"
M3 was a disappointment and the Gumpert wasn't different.

really?

I thought it was the best episode of the season. Every one looked like they were having a good time and there was no flat spots. Lots of interesting cars too.

I wonder if they'd do a shoot out between that AC replica and a real one?

I quite liked this ep. Much better than last week at least. The DSG vs. manual piece was interesting and shows how much difference a fancy gearbox can make on the track, but I think I'd still prefer a clutch pedal for my own car. Seeing the Gumpert was cool, but I will agree that Tiff's reviews just don't feel that fresh anymore. I respect Tiff's driving, but Tom or Jonny hold more interest better.

I am just watching these new episodes of Fifth Gear until Top Gear comes back (5 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!images/smilies/biggrin.gif.) I just download them, watch them and delete them because, although they are a bit entertaining and informative, I wouldn't watch them again like I do with Top Gear (it hardly ever gets boring. images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I thought this episode was quite good. I really like that Fiat 500 (especially it's interiorimages/smilies/love.gif). And I'm kinda disappointed that that Gumpert Apollo joined the supercar club with such a small engine. And how come Tiff is never in the cafe with everyone else. This show would get better if he had more interaction with his "co-hosts."

Good show, but the handling of the TT is just horrible for a sports car (understeeeeeeeeeeeeer).
The Gumbert is really not the prettiest car in the world and it doesn't handle that well either. Fortunately only 25 will be made images/smilies/tongue.gif What is it with these people always having to make a supercar that will sell in the 10th. Why is nobody sitting down and thinks about an affordable car, that is practical and fun to drive (like Colin Chapman with the Lotus 7).
The Bowler is just cool, and Jason got carried away just like Hamster.....and yes it looked like Top Gear, but what else were they going to do with a car like that? Drive it on a racetrack? I enjoyed that segment very much

I liked the 500 segment but the rest, even Tiff's segment, was pretty much rubbish in my book. Made me sad. images/smilies/sad.gif

Hi guys,
This was, without doubt, one of THE best FG episode ever so far....

You can shoot me down if ya want to....but honestly I totally enjoyed the entire show from start to end images/smilies/smile.gif

There was no 'rubbish' in it at all this week for a change. Well it had me hooked from the start.

FG know TG is back next Sunday & have responded I guess....but they REALLY did pull out all the stops on this ep.

I thought it was FAB images/smilies/tongue.gif

The octane booster thing was total rubbish.

I pour 3-4 bottle of octane booster into my car and oh boy theres a difference haha. Though I usually use Lucas or 108.

Its actually more effective to put 1 gallon of 100, (I put 110 leaded, no cats in my car so w/e.)

Another good ep images/smilies/smile.gif

That octane booster surprised me. I mean, I knew there wouldn't be much difference but for it to be worse to actually use was the real shock!

thats what did it for me.... no celebrity shite and no rubbish "experiments". its not because i dont like those things, its just that fifth gear are pretty woeful at making them. leave the 'experiments' and celeb stuff to TG they know how to do it. for a start they can pull in big name celebs worthy of air time. sir Michael gambon FTW!
