I gave it a 7. I'd rather see Tiff driving something. The Nascar section was cool and all, but what is the appeal of this show if niether Tiff nor Jason is driving?

Plus I don't know why you guys are drooling over the skier girl, I am not saying she is ugly, but she isn't all that hot.

Shows the tracks for each event. Lets just say, I think your friend is not very good fractions.

A bit under the quality of few recents eps. The girl in the celeb bit sounded annoying to me and she, as someone mentioned earlier, was wearing a racing overall. The NASCAR bit was informative, but it didn't deserve as much time as it got. Citroen bit was an alright car review, nothing fancy. The S2000 vs 350z should have deserved some more time, even the road test seemed shorter than usually on It is new.. bit. Ah well, they are both "old" cars so I guess they didn't want to re-review them any more than they did.

That was rubbish.

I skipped the shootout because it was pointless and I hate those cars.

I skipped the bit with the Nissan and the Honda because both those cars are older than dirt and I don't care at all about them.

I skipped the celebrity bit.

I watched the C5 review. It was OK. I don't really like Tom tho. I think his reviews are all very similar and very dull.

I skipped the used car segment when I realised it wasn't going to be about the old Mustang.

I skipped the NASCAR segment because I have absolutely no interest in in NASCAR whatsoever.

I gave it a 1.

So you watched less then 10% of the episode and gave it a 1 out of 10? That's not a bad score, when you think about it.

I gave it a 9/10. For a FifthGear episode, it was really good.

I like seeing the SUV's race around the track in the shootout. I'm impressed with the Cayenne, and the styling has grown on me, but I'd rather have seen the top range Turbo S go around the track as well, for comparison sake.

The $30k sports car segment was alright. But like Austere said, both cars are older then dirt. I did like the part where Tom demonstrated the luggage space of the S2000 though, that was one thing I didn't know, nor expect, from the small Honda.

I also really liked the Mustang prize car. They had a really nice classic example, along with a newer V6 model, and the V8 GT that they gave away. Maybe it's just me being an American, but I did like that they gave away a car that wasn't a hot hatch or a hot family sedan.

The rally test was pretty good. By far the most entertaining celebrity segment I've ever seen on Fifth Gear, not that that says much.

I'm impressed with the Nascar segment. They really captured what the sport is all about. Most people do nothing but talk shit about the actual racing, even though they're complete idiots who know nothing about it. But the sport is just as much about the drivers, the fans, and the experience, as it is about the racing dynamics or pretentious bragging rights about the numbers of corners on the tracks. I was fully expecting them to tear it apart and make it look like an absolute joke. But they didn't. Instead Tiff and Johnny seemed to have a great time and seemed to fully understand what the sport really is.

I gave it a 7 only because the NASCAR segment was too long to go without Tiff getting into a car himself. But I'll be looking forward to next week. images/smilies/biggrin.gif The skier chick was hot, the C5 review was brilliant as always, and the shootout was entertaining.

Oh and despite what Austere thinks Tom is a brilliant reviewer. images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

What was that huge pickup blowing its horn in the nascar section? It's right at the end of that video:

This is one case where I was hoping they would bash NASCAR. I hate to say it but I think Clarkson in the same situation would have been terrific.

Overall wasn't their best, wasn't terrible either.

I love the C5, I need the wagon variant ASAP.

Yeah, but they gotta be since they're basically small semi-trucks designed to pull massive RV trailers.

And don't forget most 550, 650, and 750 models are designed originally to be box trucks and not pickup trucks. It just so happens that hip hop stars wanted a larger vehicle than an H2 Hummer...and this was the answer. But, having said that I'd MUCH rather own an F650 pickup truck than an H2. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

You have to appreciate that they went to the 500 with an open mind, rather than taking the Clarkson approach, which is to be willfully close minded and ignorant about anything and everything non-British. I don't even like Nascar. I was however pretty disgusted by the Confederate flag flying from that "tree house" Johnny toured. I wouldn't have minded a Clarksonesque jab at that point.

It was a good episode except for the skier part. They seriously need to drop these segments about teaching "celebrities" to drive. Don't care, don't care, don't care and boring.

While its too much to hope for, it would be bloody great if Top Gear or Fifth Gear had a look at the Bathurst 1000.

1000km of winding mountain course, with a 1km long straight (downhill) with cars reaching 300km/hr, and doing the 6km lap in just over 2 minutes.

Add in that these are 620 - 650bhp RWD sedans, you can see why there is so much interest in it...

5th gear made an enjoyable but practical and expected visit to Nascar - you get all the info in an interesting video which you could've gotten any other way by reading about it.

Top Gear with the 3 amigos would've made an unforgettable, laugh till you hurt version full of un-pc comments from Clarkson, a crazy perch of their own, pranks they'd play on the fans and teams, and generally poke fun at everything while still managing to convey the soul of the event without having to list facts.

And thats what makes TG so great !!
