Celeb bit wasn`t that good.

Nascar was rubbish.

Tom`s C5 review was fantastic.

Shootout was ok.

I really liked this episode, particularly the NASCAR segment was quite interesting.

That's actually a pretty valid point.images/smilies/lol.gif The only bit I watched was kinda reasonably OKish so maybe it deserved a 4. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I think this show is average at best and most of the time it's only just barely worth watching. I only watch it because i'm interested in cars and this weeks episode only had 1 car review and I didn't think it was a very good one. The other problem was that downloading this episode put me over my download limit so now I'm on dial-up speeds. It really wasn't worth it.images/smilies/sad.gif

You're right about me needing to get out more but right now I have a back injury and I can't really go anywhere. We're also going through the worst heatwave on record. If I went out I could die.

"GO OUTSIDE! GO OUTSIDE!" I hear you all say...

Anyway, I've said it before and I'll say it again; I know I bitch about Top Gear and Fifth Gear and everybody here thinks I'm "impossible to please" but I actually do like quite a few shows. Like The Sopranos, The Wire, Dexter, House.... you know, good shows.images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Unfortunately I didn't know what was going to be on the show... I suppose I could have looked it up but I didn't.
So every time a segment came on that looked like it was going to be crap I skipped it - I was annoyed when I realised that I'd skipped pretty much the whole damn episode. Then I came to the most appropriate place I could think of to express my annoyance.

Also, for future reference, the only person who'll read the rep comment is me so you might as well say 'you' instead of 'he'. I think you gave me neg rep a few weeks ago because you wrote the comment in a similar way. I called you a little girl then, too.images/smilies/tongue.gif

Usually when I give rep (+ or -) I sign it... Unless I forget to sign it like I accidentally just did with 4G92Lancer up there...

EDIT: Oh FFS, more neg rep from someone now? What's the point in having a thread for episode discussion if you're only allowed to use it to echo the general consensus?images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

I remember during season 11 most people here thought this show sucked yet every single week people would watch the show anyway and then come in here to tear it apart and nobody seemed to have any kind of problem with that. So it's fine to hate an episode as long everybody else hates it but it's not OK otherwise?

That's just horseshit.images/smilies/dry.gif

I watched bits of it on Youtube. SUVs were ok but why on a track?? Completely pointless, the X5 sounded mental though.

Skier bit was pretty silly. Would rather have seen Jason have a go and then get taught by Mikko or something.

NASCAR was really really really great. Very interesting, well presented and man have they got a good set up there. Shows that F1 maybe the technological pinnacle, but as far as looking after the fans they are decades behind.

shootout was great, but please next time we need to hear more engine noise images/smilies/smile.gif (something like this --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=badA0ntOxsE)
wow, I always thought Nascar was just really turning left, and now it seems it is really cool, I might even start liking it images/smilies/smile.gif
Celebrity was hot and funny. C5 was also a good review, overall, a very solid episode.

Jesus Christ. I actually enjoyed this episode of Fifth Gear. images/smilies/ohmy.gif

Usually, my loyalty to Top Gear prohibits me from eulogising anything Fith Gear related, but this episode was actually good. The NASCAR segment especially, diffused my biased view of NASCAR. And that skier was images/smilies/drool.gif

Like everyone else, I was surprised by the NASCAR segment. Wasn't a fan, semi interested now. My question is how the hell did a NASCAR driver hook up with Ashley Judd?

Franchitti~? he only started driving in NASCAR this year... he was racing in the Indy Racing League in the past few years...

started off work as a driving instructor for a certain T Needel, went to racing in America (Champcar/IRL) after racing in some junior category in Europe, hook up with Ashley Judd, ended up in NASCAR, what a path~!images/smilies/cool.gif

The SUV shootout was just completely horrible. All that talk about "Track performance" etc. on SUV's? What a load of bollocks. Test the SUV's where they belong. Only idiots buy SUV's to run them on tracks. I liked Toms comment about "Taste bypass" at the end of the segment though! images/smilies/biggrin.gif

S2000 vs 350Z was alright. I really think they should have taken these to the racetrack instead of the bulky SUV's, and tested the SUV's in this segment instead.

The ski-girl segment was decent. I didn't see why many of you were screaming "HOT!" though. images/smilies/tongue.gif

I liked Toms T-shirt in the C5-segment. I had actually watched a BMI-video just before I saw this episode. The C5 rear looks very much like a BMW, but I find it a lot more elegant. The review was really good, as is usual with Tom. This is the sort of stuff Fifth Gear really does well, as opposed to the stupid half-acting segments with Tiff vs. Jason, as we saw last week.

Used car segment was cool and had a lot of good advice. This is also something FG does well, as usual. Those Mustangs are cool!

NASCAR... well... I sort of get the part about it being fun for the drivers, but it is SOOO tedious to watch. Luckily, this segment was not just some footage of cars racing, but actually quite nice and insightful. Allthough I hate the sport, this bit was interesting. I would have liked to see Clarkson doing something like this as well images/smilies/tongue.gif

I'd give it a 7/10. I was a bit worried about how the NASCAR-segment would be, but it wasn't bad at all. The SUV's at the start almost made me skip this episode, though. If there had been something decent at the start instead, it would have been a 9/10.
