There is no replacement for displacement.
    - Wolfgang Bernhard, then Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Group talking about the Dodge Viper SRT-10
... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

Not much to say apart from that it's more of the same as they've done all over this season; short reviews, almost clumsy put together. Not to my liking really.

I quite liked the episode. Jonny cracked me up and that Aston is just gorgeous (that's not news for and Aston, but still nice to look at).

I don't get what Fifth Gear are trying to do this season. To me its getting worse.. and it feels like they no longer care about the show.

Love Tiff's shoot out segment review, excellent as usual.

Johnny's review is average. Rest is pretty rubbish..

Definetely one of the worst fifth gear season ever, catch a bloody wake up guys! stop mucking around pointless small reviews and start reviewing more sportscars!!!!

Overall... I'm sad to say.. but it's only a 2/10

    Average episode.
Johnny's review was decent, the theft stuff was useful, but it was put together in a hodge podge fashion.
Again, Vicky's section was a bit stupid. What was I supposed to make of it?
Final comment: reviews are way too short.

Renault Megane review, that was pretty good. Looking at how much steering input Tiff has to make to just keep the Caterham on the track, the Megane is definitely a better car for most people. But man, that Caterham looks fun.

Ford Ka. That's the right length for a review. Johnny's reviews are usually pretty good, it gave useful info. I don't like the look of the new Ford corporate face either, they should've given the Ka a distinctive front end.

Fiat Cubo review. That was kinda boring to me actually. Don't really care about what a bunch of no name rockers think about the car.

Trackday, that was cool. Makes me want to go to a trackday event. lol.

AM DBS review, it's alright. Nothing much new about the car, so can't really expect much. I think I would rather have the Vantage V12 over this car though. The DBS looks too racer-ish, while the Vantage looks elegant.

Liked the car reviews, but they're always too short

I'm a fan of track day segments, as we're not as lucky here with the number of circuits.
Seeing as FG make so much of their website, I think aside from user car reviews, they could also run track day league tables. They could then use the best of them instead of the celebs in the training sections - putting real people in less than reasonably priced cars (celeb part this week v.meh)

The anti theft stuff was a little lite - I know it needs to be entertaining, but unbolting the cat would have been easier than cutting it. It also has the added bonus of being reusable on another car, rather than just scrap.
I think they could have had more fun with the thefts and passers by too - you're not doing a good job unless someone calls the police.

The DBS segment was actually quite nice, I loved the engine note when he was returning it and revving for the last time, ah what a sound!
For a long time it was a review I actually enjoyed watching.

... The rest of the episode was rubbish though.

I must just say. for some reason, the edited in the dashboard of an Opel Kadett GSi just before they drove the Megane (03:54). Are they dumb or did they just mess up?

“Shootout” - Renault R26R vs. Caterham – Renault wins, Booo – how’d that happen!

“Consumer Feature” - Car crime Tim – not great, but OK

“Auto News” - Mitusbishi electric iCar – brief mention, no test - but £700 pm lease what?

“Review” - Ford Ka - Jonny – Ka needed a uplift seems OK, but I got the “Technical Teaser” wrong.

“Does it work?” - Bluetooth cheapest £20 kit wins, they all sounded a bit crap to me.

“Review” - Fiat Qubo – Rock star fail, joke fell flat. Tribute band pah! Car ugly!

“Celeb. Feature” – Olympic Cyclist Bradley Wiggins & Jason, skip the irrelevant bike part and more of the Maserati Gran Turismo please.

“Review” - Aston DBS Auto – So Tiff likes the new g/box, great!

A good watchable show, but not great.

It almost made me fall asleep...

    Tiff's shootout stunk. Period.

Vicky was a drag at the track...

Jhonny did ok (i was puzzled when trying to say which one is the ka)

That styled box was simply idiotic It did however get a smile from me when it ended and they pretty much gave Tom the shaft.

The bit Tim did was... ok, almost.

The celeb thingie stunk. 4-5 mph difference on a bike is huge. In a car it is pretty much nonexistent.

The DBS didn't deserve a new review for a tranny. Be honest here...

Overall it was a bit like a tossed salad with jelly. You got something but you never knew what it was like or how much jelly is left.

Yawn enducingly bad episode. All these segments feel so incomplete. The Maserati segment was an utterly pointless.

They've done worse this series. Seems though, they are aiming the program at those with Attention Deficit Disorder; lots of short shallow segments that are over before you can say "Ritalin". Having said that, they dropped the ball a bit on the car theft segment by wasting minutes on the pointless removal of the catalytic converter .

I agree, the segments are way, way to short, but then again, i wouldn't mind each programme being four hours long but as it is, it seems they spend one third of the programme telling viewers what's coming up

i thought the shoot out was fantastic, brilliantly filmed and tiff seems to be one of the most underrated presenters.

Thankfully only 2 more episodes of this current series to put up with.

I know it's a 'Car show', so get on with the cars, cull the studio crap out, get rid of the website promo crap and get rid of the competition (or is that the only reason why people watch it ?).

Thank frak for fast forward in the KM Player.

edit: Off to Top Gear Live this Saturday night.. woot !
