I hope that means they outsourced the stunt crap to specials only. Sorry, no constructive thoughts on this episode.

Lacked something, sort of interesting but boring at the same time. Maybe it was just a bit too slow. Some of the lead up discussion on the maths was actually very interesting. The stuff on blacking out from G force wasn't interesting at all or even relevant as the time exposed to these forces was too short to get the same effect that you get flying. I can't see how standard tyres can take a load 6 to 7 times standard.

You're joking right? Have you taken safety into account? and Ground clearance? The old mini would be a good candidate too imo.

Topgear and related show from the Web (Not webseed)

You probebly know this already but, if you are afan of topgear and other related shows you might want to visit the video blog Hessmo.com that even have the TV shows made by topgear team that are unrelated to mortoring.

I was actually hoping for more than one stunt. Even with the one, it didn't seem too long or drawn out. The physics stuff that was aired was correct as well, though I do wonder about the going faster bit causing more friction and they wouldn't make the loop. I appreciate that they kept the loop segment whole instead of cutting to commercials when he hit the onramp like some US TV shows (Mythbusters) are apt to do.

It was good, more of a documentry rather than normal fifth gear. How a simple task needing months to achieve. You see, I actually liked more facts and physics then talking and doing 'ambitious but rubbish' stuff. No surprise that I liked Fifth Gear more over Top Gear which is for Lulz only.

I've never seen fifth gear before. Lol at how the presenter just talked louder and slower to make himself understood when talking to yuri.

    I gave it an 8.

It just felt slightly dragged out than it really should have been. Aside from that, the science bit interested me lots. Yay geekness

I gave a 7. As a documentary it is alright, but it does lack some excitement.
btw there was a Top Gear Argo (which used to do football) lying around in the steel workshop, I wonder why was it here?

Not very exciting episode, as most FG, but interesting

I thought it was great. Normally I cringe at Fifth Gears tacky little stunts, but this was way bigger and way more dangerous than anything i've seen for a while.

I don't know if you NEED to be a geek to find it exciting, but the engineering, the physics and the shear forces involved made it pretty fascinating. So much so, I was almost sure it wouldn't work because I didn't think they'd taken enough variables into account.

It's a real shame that good old fashioned stunt work isn't appreciated by todays CGI engorged youth...

I really liked it. I suspect a stunt man like that knows a lot more about such things than he wanted us to think. Then again, it was probably better to have the professor explain, it's his job. It wouldn't look good if Steve would go "yeah, I know" all the time. Initially, I didn't believe this was going to be such a big deal, but the show made a good job of telling me otherwise. I liked how they didn't go for the regular hundreds of slow motions and pauses bullshit before he reached the loop, just straight to the action.

    4/10 -> meh...
I'd give the stunt itself 5/5 on youtube, though...

I noticed that too! Maybe there's only one shed in the middle of a farmers field that all the shows use to prep for these types of things...

Did anyone else notice that the inside of the Aygo's frame was a blue whilst the bodywork was all yellow? Another borrowed from the football stunt on TG?

That was my first real proper episode that I watched of Fifth Gear and I tend to side with quite a few posters here that the show dragged on. I liked the cool aerobatics with the plane and the physics with the professor, but there was too much filler.

I may be wrong, but could somebody tell me, how it is possible to drop a Ford Escort at 19:34 of the show, and make it magicaly reconfigurate itself during the drop to the Volvo 460???? A great FAIL, Fifth Gear, IMHO.

Watching it to the end, it was a great show... I like those documentaries, where they guide you all the way through the process of making sth extraordinary and in the end succeeding in actualy doing it. It was fun for me and I gave 10/10.

    They are pathetic......

...in every single of 5th Gear episodes in last 2-3 seasons you can just see "We so badly want to be like Top Gear". I just can't watch them any more.

    Sorry, you won't be......ever.

Actually, I think you'll find that stunts were done by Fifth Gear first...

I gave it a 10/10. I loved it! As a geek and someone who is fascinated by physics and engineering this was really cool to watch. They actually spent a fair amount of time on the math and what went into making it possible.

This was far more interesting to me than any explosion, crash or Bond-like short film. Even after watching it I doubt many are able to realize the shear amount of work that went into this stunt. That it even worked is something that is one in a billion maybe.
