Car: 1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5L Rep Power: 41 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | [10x01] 2006.09.25 Tiff races the brand new Mitsubishi Evo 9 against a former Red Arrow (the man who did the air display for the recent Beckham party) flying an aerobatic plane in a stunt challenge against the clock. And Vicki tests the most desirable car in the world – the limited edition Mini GP. After racing it in a mini-grand prix against a 100mph radio controlled car, she will be giving one away as this week’s competition prize. Fifth Gear will (to my dissapointment) be having more short segments in their 45-minute timeslot. There are full details regarding this in this thread, in case you missed it. I remain optimistic though, and hope they can string good episodes together and not have one or two parts letting the show down, which was largely the case in the last series. Hopefully they can get back to the high standards they had back with the 1/2 hour timeslot ![]() |

| Wow, they really have to stop copying Top Gear. Evo Vs. man in a plane? Porsche Cayenne Vs. Man... jumping out of plane? Exige Vs. Harrier? What what what? | |

| I'm not Moe | ^ they are different enough to be interesting. The Evo is being tested against a stunt plane and the Mini is being tested against one of those ultra-fast RC cars. And besides, after all these years you start to run out of ideas that are truly unique. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | what suprises me is that 5th gear was able to get a hand on one of those mini GP's to give as a competition prize! there was only about 400 coming to the UK, and 1 is being given away by a tv show! prob one of the best 5th gear competition prizes so far |

Car: 1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5L Rep Power: 41 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | //Update Five’s motoring show Fifth Gear is back for a tenth series, with a revamped format and two exciting new additions to the presenting team. Soccer AM’s Tim Lovejoy joins existing host Vicki Butler-Henderson. This series also features new presenter Johnny Smith and sees the return of old favourites Tiff Needell, Jason Plato and Tom Ford. The supercar reviews and accident reconstructions will continue, but Tim brings an extra dimension to the show – chatting to a range of celebrity guests from the worlds of sport, music and comedy, about cars. “I'm looking forward to being part of the successful team on Fifth Gear. It looks good fun and I can't wait to get my hands on those cars” he says. In this first episode, Tim talks to former Vice President of the United States, Al Gore. Al is promoting his new film about climate change called, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, and is on record as saying he’d like to eliminate the internal combustion engine. Tim takes him to task and finds out how it is possible to love supercars and still be eco-friendly. Tiff Needell tests the brand new Mitsubishi Evo 9 FQ360 by racing it on a rally circuit against…an aeroplane. Myles Garland is a former Red Arrow who has perfomed an aerobatic display for David and Victoria Beckham – but will he and his 200mph stunt plane be able to out-manoeuvre Tiff? Vicki Butler-Henderson will be driving the hottest car in the world right now – the MINI GP. This is the most expensive, most powerful and fastest MINI ever. It’s a limited edition hardcore driver’s car, where even the rear seats have been removed to save precious weight. The only way to test a MINI GP is to enter it into a mini-grand prix…so Vicki races against an 80mph radio controlled car, driven by world champion Andy Moore from Derbyshire. Tom Ford will be testing the Skoda Roomster, their brand new funky family car. The most important features on a vehicle like this are its capacity and build quality, so Tom enlists the help of three nurses on a hen party to help out. Will they be able to continue partying in the spacious rear? And will the car stand up to the punishment? |

| I'm interested how this celeb thing will work, I wonder if there will be a lap thing like in TG (I doubt it). It appears Jon Bentley has gone which is good in my books. Will Tim Lovejoy be sharing presenting duities with Vicki?

Rep Power: 14 ![]() | I am normally the first to defend FG against allegations of TG rip off, but even I am pretty disgusted by the similarity of the new format plus the stunts. Why can't they just stick to reviewing cars like the used to. I loved FG back then. |

I was recently watching some of the pre-new format Fifth Gear when they had that 1/2 hour timeslot and it was just so much better. Because they had less time, they had to value it more and as a result they just had better quality eps. I really hope they can get back to the way they were ![]() | |
