Car: 1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5L Rep Power: 41 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | [10x07] 2006.11.06 In this week’s edition of Five’s motoring show, Tim Lovejoy takes golfer Ian Poulter to the track to try out the Ford GT; Jason Plato drives the Type 25 Subaru Impreza; Tom Ford goes on a very rural school run in the new Land Rover Freelander; Tiff Needell drives a Ferrari 599GTB on some rough roads in Bolivia; and Tom Ford tries out the new Vauxhall Corsa, taking a close look at how well the air bags work. The rally-bred Subaru Impreza has a reputation for being able to cover the ground with alarming ease. But not easily enough for one specialist importer who have developed their own particular version, the ?40,000 Litchfield Type 25. Jason Plato gets behind the wheel to deliver a definitive verdict on the fastest ‘Scooby’ ever. Top golfer Ian Poulter likes performance cars and has the collection to prove it. Now he’s added another to his bulging garage – a true blue supercar in the shape of the Ford GT. He wants to drive it fast but doesn’t want to wreck it, so best mate Tim Lovejoy rustles up a press car for him to have some fun in – but after a few laps in the passenger seat Tim begins to regret his decision. Also this week, Tom Ford drives the new 335i, BMW’s first turbo charged petrol car for 20 years. It’s got 306 bhp and is meant to be as fast as BMW’s current performance legend, the M3. At ?33,000 it also undercuts the M car by ?9,000 – does this make it the best car in the world? Jon Bentley takes a close look at speed bumps, the bane of the everyday motorist – constantly jarring our teeth and ruining our suspension. But do some cars cope with them better than others? Jon suffers for the cause with a ten-year-old saloon, a modern family hatchback and top of the range 4x4 – and comes to a surprising conclusion. Finally, Tiff Needell travels to Bolivia to drive the Ferrari 599GTB. His mission is to pilot the supercar for two days over some of the highest, roughest and most dangerous roads in the world as part of Ferrari’s 20,000 mile Pan American challenge. Will the car survive the altitude and dust, or will Tiff’s declining relationship with the expedition chief mean he’s not even allowed to find out? Everything looks okay for this ep EXCEPT TIM LOVEJOY'S BIT. It's a bit weird FG is having the 599 on again but I'm not complaining I mostly want to see Tom's verdict on the 335i and Plato screaming around in the Scooby ![]() Last edited by SL65; November 2nd, 2006 at 02:25 AM.. |

The Lovejoy/Ford GT segment will be crap, who cares about some golfer driving the car. They should stop getting guest presenters - they totally wrecked the LP640 review by getting that stupid bike rider to drive it. Hopefully they won't have anymore of the "teaching someone of to drive a car" segments, they've had three already this season...one every now and again is ok.

| i watched the ep on TV it wasnt bad actually the vicki/tim bits are un bearable as usual, but theyre not that long. vicki actually had a decent segment on the new VW golf GT (1.4litre petrol with super and turbo chargers) thought before the segment begins she asks tim if he knows what a super charger is, he replys no, she says well watch and find out only prob is she didnt seem to explain what the differences where between turbo and super, and how they worked. well for the parts where i wasnt trying to whoop ass on TDU (so maybe i missed her explanation) jasons bit were good, as was toms, and tiff's was worth watching too.....drivin a 599gtb off road lol jon bently though..... usually i like this guy and his bits are interesting but this one was pants... he had like 10mins air time to conclude that driving over speed bumps slowly was the best way to go over them....... i thought that was canny obvious to be honestlovegimps section well, he wasnt bad actually, and that golfer sure is enthusiastic about cars, but it was pretty boring when all was said and done. guess lovechump can only do irritating or boring | |
