Quote:
A revamped Fifth Gear returns for a new series with a brand-new presenter. Tim Shaw joins Vicki Butler-Henderson, Tom Ford, Tiff Needell, Jonny Smith and Jason Plato as they explore the most exciting cars on the road.

This week, Tim’s first feature is a timely look at how to spend less money on fuel; Vicki takes snooker ace Ronnie O’Sullivan on the drive of his life; and Tiff gets behind the wheel of the world’s first underwater car. For its new series, Five’s legendary motoring show moves to one of the biggest car playgrounds in the world – a vast test-track facility that provides the perfect arena for the best drivers on TV to push cars to the limit.

Fifth Gear also welcomes new presenter Tim Shaw (‘Balls of Steel’, Kerrang! Radio) to the team. A self-confessed car enthusiast, Tim has been tasked with standing up for the beleaguered motorist. This week, he has to find ways of spending less money on fuel. As petrol and diesel prices near £6 a gallon, he softens the blow for some lucky drivers in Bedfordshire by personally refunding them while they fill up on the forecourt. Then Tim gets scientific, testing some of the different ways to make cars more economical.

Elsewhere, world snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan gets the fright of his life as Vicki Butler-Henderson takes him for some high-speed test drives. Ronnie has asked Fifth Gear to help him spend his snooker winnings on a new car, so Vicki takes him for a spin in the Mitsubishi Evo X, the Mercedes C63 AMG and the BMW M3.

Jason Plato and Tiff Needell go head-to-head on the track in one of their famous ‘Dogfights’ this week by testing the Mitsubishi Evo X FQ300 and the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. The resulting race at 120mph in torrential rain ends in a close shave that panics even these two professional drivers...

Also this week, Jonny Smith investigates the startling rumour that cars are now worth more as scrap metal than as functioning vehicles. Tom Ford tests Ford’s new SUV, the Kuga, by driving it on snow, road and mud. And Tiff Needell tries out the world’s first underwater car, the Rinspeed Squba, which was inspired by James Bond’s white Lotus Esprit in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’.
M3, AMG, STI and Evo. Sounds good to me! images/smilies/smile.gif

So how do you think Tim Shaw will be? I don't know his history...

Looking forward to it - the last series was great, a real step-up.

A new presenter interesting, lets hope this one actually knows something about cars the shoot out sounds good they nearly always are. I'm quite interested in Jonny's little investigation, the value of the raw materiel used to make a car are going up in value dramatically in this economic fuck up (That's the technical term for it)

By revamp does that mean they've stopped filming at the Ace Cafe? I didn't mind it that much but some of the camera shots they were doing inside the Cafe itself were a bit crap, you were kind of looking at the presenters through a crowd of people...

Isn't Tim Shaw the guy whose wife sold his Esprit for half a pound?

No it was 50 pounds

Quote:
Lotus Esprit
Tim's wife, Hayley, sold his Lotus Esprit, worth £25,000, for 50p on Ebay after he told Jodie Marsh live on air that he would leave his wife and two children for her. Hayley placed the lot on the auction site at the 'buy it now' price of 50p with the description 'I need to get rid of this car in the next two to three hours before my husband gets home to find it gone and all his belongings in the street', The car sold within five minutes. The scandal made international news and Tim even made a live apology to his wife on Channel 4's Richard & Judy show.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is naturally talented to play snooker, but his attitude....I'm not sure if I will like that feature too much.

Well well well - That sounds the best show for FG ever! Can't wait - I predict a solid 9 out of 10.

Hmmm, testing the Ford Kuga by driving it trough mud, snow and normal road...
I'm guessing it will prove to be as useless offroad as any car in that segment (VW Tiguan, Renault Kaleos, Rav4),
BECAUSE IT'S NOT MENT TO BE USED OFFROAD!

Other than that, the first episode looks great images/smilies/wink.gif

(Btw, I've driven a Kuga for a whole day, and when used as a normal car, it rocks! Comfy, silent, no sqeaks or rattles, and superb handling)

[quote=So how do you think Tim Shaw will be? I don't know his history...[/QUOTE]

Looking at his entry in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Shaw_%28DJ%29
he doesn't seem like a pleasant person. Fifth gear did not need that. Actually IMHO Fifth Gear didn't need one more presenter, it needed one less (Tom Ford).

As ridiculously hot as his wife is, I still woulda left that bitch for selling my car if I was him, even if I had made such a retarded statement as he did.

Based on that vid, Tim looks to be a good addition to the show. Seems like he knows what he's on about, and should be able to present well.
