Default 5th Gear....BLAAAAAAA

Why do they tease with the supercar introduction?????? Then proceed to test the latest shitbox supermini from Renault, followed by a comparo of the latest minivan offerings? I understand they're going more for a consumer-oriented show with all the practical crap, but at the same time, the show is private/profit oriented, so why don't they appeal for more viewers and get money that way, rather than just manufacturer money? The first 30 minutes of each episode is crap, followed by a bizzare test that doesn't prove anything, and finally, a ten minute review of a drool-worthy car. Entertainment doesn't seem to feature prominently with this show anymore.

What in gods name episode were you watching? Have you seen tonights Klutch?

Anyhoo I do not think that I agree with you, one point I do agree on is that they make a big deal over any "super cars" probably to the detriment to other segments where to be fair mostly they are applicable to the UK/Europe only.

you're pretty ignorant for posting something here before reading through other forum threads already talking about the same thing OVER and OVER.

I don't mind, let Top Gear do more of the fancy stuff. I like Fifth Gear mostly for the car reviews (super-car or not). I've been liking the show more and more since they ejected that soccer jock.

Fifth gear do plenty of supercar reviews, but instead of filling the rest by driving across the atlantic in a skoda, they test cars that the rest of us can afford.

If you hate 5th gear so much why complain about it? Just don't watch it! Stop whining and let the rest of us enjoy it.

Because there aren't many decent motoring shows out there, and it's a shame when one of the ones that is supposed to be great starts with a 2 second caulktease of a lambo or other supercar just to get people excited while they spend the rest of the episode talking about what's coming up later in the episode.

Plus this is an internet forum. This is where people come to complain about stuff. That's just how it works. ...duh...

I agree with Klutch. Fifth gear is sucking hardcore lately. A lot of style, but no substance.

THEY TELL YOU EXACTLY WHATS GOING TO BE IN THE EPISODE A WEEK IN ADVANCE!

Nobody is putting a gun to your head and making you watch it. And besides, how many supercars are really out there? Do they need to test the gallardo if they already tested it a few years ago? Oh wow, thanks mr.clarkson, this isnt the lambo you tested in series 1, its the LP640!!! Its totally different! (Oh wait, no it isnt)

The nice thing about "boring" cars is that you actually have a snow balls chance in hell of affording one. That makes it more realistic. Watching supercar reviews is kinda like watching a Hollywood movie about Formula 1. Where as a review about a realistic car is kinda like watching the real Formula 1 live on TV. IMO

But it is nice to see some completely insane supercars every now and then.

I don't really care if fifth gear reviews a supercar or something more accessible. Just stop starting the episode with a supercar tearing ass away from the camera when there aren't any in the episode.

So what, they need to change their introduction for every episode? Christ, listen to yourself.

Top gear doesn't haven an enzo and a marcos in every episode, i guess they need to change their intro as well?

When I say introduction, I don't mean the title sequence with the theme music and all that, I mean the episode specific introduction before the title sequence.

What's so bad about having a slightly different introduction for each episode?

Actually, let me phrase it this way. What is so great about using the same exact introduction for every episode?
"Welcome to fifth gear! Here is a really expensive car, a dramatic camera angle, and some tire spin!"
Gets old after a while. Is it so difficult to have different introductions every once in a while?

And since you mentioned, I do think that Top Gear need to change their title sequence as well. How long have they used the silhouette intro now, 3 seasons? If it weren't for Jessica I would be bitching about that as well.

I'm not saying they need to spend a whole lot of time/money on their introductions, but putting forth a little more effort to an introduction that is conducive to the episodes contents would be welcomed.

if you actually enjoy watching fifth gear because you know WHAT KIND OF CONTENT IS IN IT in every episode, you shouldn't be having a problem with the introduction. It's basically the same format every time. best bit with tiff at the end is usually what the format is, and everything else before it.

get over it. damn.

Fifth Gear is not Top Gear! Fifth Gear actually has car reviews, they don't do things like make a truck into a boat, or needlessly blow things up for entertainment. Yes, Top Gear has its appeal, but Fifth Gear is actually a car show that tests and drives cars in a review format for the viewer. Changing the introduction for every show is a stupid idea.

Introduction != Title Sequence

They already change the introduction for each episode. Stop describing the differences between Top Gear and Fifth Gear, you are not progressing nor amplifying your argument. My qualm is with the stark similarity of the introduction in recent episodes.

If you would like to argue the overall format of the show, then the cookie cutter formula that Fifth Gear uses ad nauseam has become boring. I understand that they want to reel in the viewers with an exciting introduction, start off with an fast paced shoot off, move on to more sensible and widely accessible cars, and finish with a bang. But this formula has been beaten to death and it is becoming stale. Some may say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but I would like to see something fresh and innovative instead of the same ABCD ABCD ABCD for every episode.

I think its better than "Hi, i'm jeremy clarkson, and this is the new Lamborarri Snorthruster 9000GTB, and i dont like its new electronic aids, heres an old one that i liked better."

Or "Hi i'm Jeremy clarkson, and this is the Spykerseigg Vantage XKR, and they've gone simple with it, but you cant have this much power without traction control! What were they thinking?!?!?!" *Cue shot of him spinning out*
