God for a sec' she looked just like Mrs Cobol74 - but she is too plastic.

Looks over shoulder in a nervous fashion. ...

I'm not sure whether you were even looking for an explanation to that, but in case someone wants one, the clip is from the USC street car show, so, apparently someone has thought it is a good idea to put an inflatable doll in the passenger seat of their car. So, it's not a Fifth Gear blooper.

What I want an explanation of is why anyone buys a blow-up doll in the first place. Considering the purpose they're made for in conjunction with how grotesquely ugly they invariably are... defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Think of Jezza's expression "nursing a semi" whenever he sees an Alfa 8C? I'd be struggling to nurse a quarter with one of those plastic hags around. Can there really be anyone who is that desperate?

Rumour has it that there are two people per car special lanes in some places (Leeds?) and that to get around the problem of being billy no mates and not getting a fine drivers have been known to put an inanimate "Friend" in the passenger seat. But who really knows what she is doing there?

It's an old trick, that one... back in my formative years, when I was 17 and had a Nova (it was a base model, but I could dream) I was an avid reader of Max Power STOP THAT LAUGHING AT THE BACK YOU BASTARDS. One issue highlighted the fantastic new product for nervous women who didn't like to drive alone - Justin Case. Almost the same concept, only this was half an inflatable man that folded into a briefcase to look like an extra passenger - which, it was implied, could be used to trick the multi-occupancy lane cameras that were inevitably proposed into thinking there was more than one person in the car. Justin Case came with no arms, but after one reader wrote in to lambast the blow-up passenger for looking like a bit of a wally, the editor wrote back: "Actually, Justin Case is as hard as nails and could have you in a fight any day!" With no arms?
