I HIGHLY doubt it's like that, at least with Fifth Gear's competition. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif I mean if it were, what would be the point of the average Joe entering?

And I'm happy that we don't have those kinda retarded pay-to-enter and answer a question competitions here. Everything is mostly be the XXth caller to win or to be entered to win on the big prizes.

i don't think they should abandon those "stupid" segments. i think most of them are quite informative, and if they don't do those, they just can continue reviewing cars, the sames ones as top gear. and top gear does a better job at that. so i say fifth gear is just great as it is (except the studio comments)

Unfortunately bond, it does work that way. I've been in the industry for about 2 years now and it's a common practice. The average joe are not going to text at every single program, it's the 10% who knows how it works are the ones who are generating revenues. These bunch text like crazy over the contest period. I've personally seen guys who texts more than 1200 messeges to win one of our client contest which offers the new SLK200 Kompressor as the grand prize. And considering a brand new SLK here cost about USD$120k it's pretty good investment.

Im pretty sure the eps are thought out and filmed well before they are released... But it would be wise on there part to frequent these forums, and im sure they do it... what else are the FG peeps in the background doing at there desks images/smilies/biggrin.gif ......

I can just imagine Vickis face when she was reading the topic about her "tits" in the general discussion images/smilies/lol.gif

it might be the case in your company, but that does not mean its the case everywhere. if that info was to become public, average joe wouldn't enter any more and the income from it would decrease. average joe might not enter every competition, but 50.000 texting once generate more than 500 texting a thousand times...and in a lot of countries, there are sharp regulations on lotteries. i can't believe such a system would be allowed in germany for example.
