Default Presenter Interviews : Tiff Needle

Interview with Tiff Needle (five.tv)

Quote:
What have you filmed for the new series?
“I’ve been to a Jaguar launch in South Africa which was very glamorous. I’ve had a blast in the new Corvette. Me and Jason have had a couple of head-to-heads. We try to find out whether the newer models of a car will beat the previous ones. These young upstart racing drivers try and give me a hard time, I’ve got to put them in their place!”

What else are you looking forward to?
“There are some good crashes coming up. They look spectacular but we’re proud of some of the stuff we’ve brought to the public’s attention as far as car safety goes.”

What do you drive when you’re not at work?
“I just drive whatever I’m testing. I’m driving a new BMW at the moment. My mates often ask me if they can have a go but I always say no! I’ve driven a Ford Focus recently. But sadly it’s a bit trickier to get hold of something like a Ferrari! I’m off to Italy soon to try the new Maserati, which should be fun.”

What have been your most memorable moments on the show?
“The highlight in the last one was driving that Williams Grand Prix car full power, full throttle! It was a real honour. Frank Williams thanked me the next day. We raced it alongside an earth-shatteringly fast road car, which was made to look stupid! We’re proud of that, and we’re only allowed to drive these sort of cars because we’re racing drivers. No journalist would be allowed. I never thought I’d get the chance again!”

Your insurance bill must be pretty hefty...
“I never get involved in that murky business! I’ve got my own policy as a racing driver, but when we’re filming, the people who lend us the cars generally have them insured themselves. I haven’t hit anything yet when filming, touch wood!”

Have you travelled anywhere exotic recently?
“I drove in a pro-celebrity race in Bahrain last week, with Rick Parfitt from Status Quo! We were at the Grand Prix. Unfortunately, Bernie Ecclestone wouldn’t let us film there.”

Who comes up with the ideas for the show?
“We come up with a lot of ideas ourselves, but our brilliant young producer James Woodroffe has always thought of them first! We’re very lucky. He’s very inventive and creative. But we’re always thinking of new ideas.”
Whats the new Corvette? Some faster version of the C6 or something??

After doing a quick search of the forums, it appears as if I've asked this question before lol. Z06 looks very cool to me. I wonder if Tiff will put it against the Viper again or maybe something else...something German.

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.
