| Tom Ford. As I'm sure you all know he works as a presenter for 5th Gear. Or is it a reporter for Topgear? I watched an episode of 5th Gear where he drove a Ferrari 599 GTB from England (I think) to Maranello in Italy. Simple enough, no? If you have the September 2006 edition of the Topgear magazine, then please look at pages 144-149. Why, its 'TGs Tom Ford' driving a Ferrari 599 GTB through Europe to Maranello. And why, its the exact same colour, and has the same wheels as the one on 5th Gear! A coincidence? I somehow think not. So Mr Tom Ford. 5th Gear or Topgear? Dave | |

| .dk beauty | The magazine Top Gear has nothing to do with the tv show Top Gear, it just happends that JC and JM writes for it as well as a lot of others, including Tom Ford. And why is this in the 'Forum' section ![]()

Car: 987 B 3.4 S (M) Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Top Gear magazine is owned by BBC Magazines, as shown in the small print at the bottom of their website: "The Top Gear word mark and logo are trade marks of the BBC and are used under licence. BBC Magazines is owned by the BBC and our profits are returned to the BBC for the benefit of the licence-fee payer." You can also see the BBC logo on the covers of all the Top Gear mags! Which brings us back to the initial question... The same reporter working for rivals? |

Rep Power: 19 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Doesn't seem very freelance, he has done other articles for the Magazine. Such as the his visit to the Japanese car park/service station which he also did a segment on it, on Fifth Gear.

Car: 987 B 3.4 S (M) Rep Power: 0 ![]() | M3lover: x2 on the freelance work. My guess now is that the TG and FG shows are different products from the TG mag, and hence Ford can use stories from the FG show on TG mag. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I don't think either BBC TopGear or Fifth Gear would really care all that much that Tom Ford was working for both. And Tom is a Regular columnist for BBC TopGear...he usually has 2 features per magazine and a section in the back about the car he has for a long term test. Currently its a BMW 535D Touring. Besides...i'm sure its a good relationship for both companies...each pays for part of the shoot...both win. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Honestly, when will you guys figure it out!?! The crew of Top Gear and Fifth Gear are FRIENDS. They all know each other, they all work off of each other, and they most likely share segment ideas with each other. Just like sports journalists, it's as if you belong to the club, and the Top Gear/Fifth Gear club is the coolest in town. |
