Default High Quality Top Gear Season 4 Rips Now Available

High quality rips made from the original airings are now available for season 4 of Top Gear.

These are 700MB rips and are of comparable quality to rips from this last season (i.e. very good). Since they were ripped from the original airings, they also feature the original music rather than generic synthesized replacement music which is usually added to reairings due to licensing issues.

And as the normal traffic limit is 12gb (I happen to know the right people images/smilies/smile.gif ), I can't really complain about it.
And it's just damn fast images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

I think I'll just have to download it at my parents place images/smilies/tongue.gif

OK that'll do. A bit of planning as the rips appear. ...

Thanks for these, these are all proper digital 16:9 recordings, yeah? Most of the season 4 stuff is some sort of mock 4:3 cropped sub-widescreen, just off 16:10

This is totally cool. I was looking at past episodes this week and my favorite episode I think of all time (the DB9 race) looks really poor compared to the new stuff. I can't wait to re-watch this season with decent quality (and the authentic music is a nice plus).

Shcweeeet! The fuzzy-blah* of the old eps drives me nuts.

*I know "fuzzy-blah" ain't very technical, but I think it describes the poor quality pretty well.

This is awesome, I realized a while back that I'm missing a lot of season four and have been wanting to fix that for some time.

I must go back and check my series 4 rips and see what they're like, then there will be a decision. Had Vuk started ripping from BBC2 by this point to the quality settings we're used to?

Chances are you have the poorer quality rips. These "new" rips aren't that widespread.

Vuk started with 3x02, but they aren't even close as to good of quality as this. He was doing like 175MB or 300MB rips at the time (I honestly can't remember) as everyone was on slower Internet and he'd also have the occasional recording issue. One of his season 4 rips for example had some signal loss.

These "new" rips are the best by a long shot.

Right, let's see...

File size: 300 MB.
Screen size: 480 × 304 pixels.
Sound: stereo.
Length: 59m50s.
Opening sequence: series preview with twangy guitar music that Jezza hates and Hamster tells him is The Strokes...

...BBC 2 rip, by the looks of things.

What I have came from one of these mega-packs - at the time it was a 25 GB job with series 1-6, which I picked up because series 1 and 2 were not available here at the time (and I think bits of 3 were missing as well). I'll download 4x01 of this new pack to see what the difference is... and take it from there.

Incidentally, about half of series 6 in this pack is made of 700 MB rips, and I'll check to see if those are the full-fat high-caffeine BBC 2 versions as well.
