Exactly, but I'm on a S939 board. Anybody know where I can get a very good Athlon X2 S939 in the UK and what would be a recommended upgrade from my 6800GT PCI-E card?
I know everything is AM2 now but I don't feel like getting a new board as well as DDR2.

Finally got the 720p Scene rip. We'll have it out in a little bit.

Both HDV, Xdcam HD and HDcam is 1440x1080, and Panasonic dvcpro hd(1080i) is also 1440x1080 as far as i can remember. But production standard and distribution is two different things..
According to this website; http://www.broadcastbuyer.tv/publish...ar_12427.shtml
it was all shot on Hdcam sr(together with hdcam the equivalent to digibeta in HD) which is capable of 1920x1080 in 4:4:4, so no ugly loong goop mpeg2 there, if this website is right that is. And it would not be a big surprise, many high end shows shoot either on hdcam/-sr or dvcprohd. Often becuase the hdcam and dvcprohd formats are more up to it if you do a lot of grading and work with the pictures in post and long goop mpeg2 is not the best codec if you shot stuff where action is part of the pictures.

But havn't had the time to watch the episode yet...i'm looking forward to it as if it was Christmas..8) Beeing a tv/film student TG is like on hour in heaven, it's just so dam good, especially the technical part is outstanding. The cinematography, editing, grading and sound....and I'll bet i wont be disappointed with this challenge either!

The 6800-GT should work fine, what's your current CPU speed?
I've got an original 3200+ sck939 (from when sck939 first came out) and it can almost do 1080p )

OK, this is the first time I tried a torrent download.

It took forever to download and now that its finally done, I've got only audio?!

I'm running a pentium four with Windows XP and the latest version of Windows Media Player. Ideas?

2.2GHz/512k cache.

Are you sure you're using both cores for it?

Anyways, I think I might be better looking for a new system since S939 CPUs are almost extinct. Core 2 Duo is looking quite nice around now.

Read the first post in this thread and I'm surprised WMP plays the MKV file in the first place.

Or are you talking about the 350MB rip and just posted in the wrong thread? If so: http://forums.finalgear.com/faq.php?...playback_codec

Just a suggestion, add VLC from www.videolan.org to the topic start, it's a great player which runs on about every operating system out there and at least for me it plays the file very well

Hi Viper007Bond. I don't watch my TG/FG rips on my pc, i burn them to dvd and watch them on my home dvd player. I'd like to know if the 1080p/720p rips are only dedicated to progressive scan because my tv is a crt incapable of progressive scan. Thanks and Happy Birthday sir!

Nobody broadcasts in 1080p. Because the bandwidth allocated for a HD signal isn't sufficient to carry it. The only way to get a 1080p signal into a TV set is (a) with a computer and VGA, or (b) an HDMI 1.3 device such as the PS3. However, it's not as bad as old interlaced TVs.

- The source material is usually either film or recorded in progressive mode on an HD camera.
- The signal is interlaced from the progressive source (you don't have to worry about old interlacing jitter)
- The HDTVs aren't interlaced themselves; they reassemble the progressive image. So your 1080i TV is not interlaced itself. Only the signal is.

^ SioPao you probably have to convert the video down to standard definition anyway, DVDs can't do HD content which defeats the purpose. Just get the "normal" rip.

Anyone who is having trouble playing this back with a powerful computer, try using VLC or the Combined Community Codec Pack. If using the latter, you should also set Media Player Classic output settings to the values outlined in this screenshot:

This method worked fine for me on 2 computers:
AMD Athlon 2800+
1.5GB DDR400
GeForce 6600GT

and

AMD Athlon 4000+
2GB DDR400
GeForce 6800 Ultra

No, XBox 360 only does H.264 or MPEG-4 from a QT .mov or .mp4, or WMV. It doesn't even do MPEG-2.

You haven't got the latest processor driver and DC optimiser installed.

Both of them are download able from AMD's site: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/..._13118,00.html

I agree. That way there is no need to mess with different codecs and such.
And VLC can probably play it better than MPC.
