Default TopGear.com US's "Project Sipster" Results Are In

TopGear.com's US branch has finished their previously mentioned highly economic car. Did they meet their goal of 70 MPG? Find out over on TopGear.com by reading their write-up or by watching their video summary.

I just have to wonder how accurate it is to use pumps as standard units of measure. I mean, are the nozzles exactly the same? To they stop at the same point? And it always seems like, when TV shows do things like this, to me it seems like their sample is waaaaay to short. They should drive enough to nearly empty the tank. They'd get a much more accurate result...one I'd be much more inclined to have faith in.

In any event, 84mpUSg is impressive. That's 100.8 mpUKg, for you Brits!

I always wondered about taking a newer engine and placing it in an older car- a new 2.0 litre would beat an old 2.0 litre for a sports car, for example. But because of size restrictions and plenty of other factors, I assumed it just would never work, ridiculously modifiable cars like the Civic an Beetle excepted.

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.
