Saturday, October 3rd at noon the UMass Motorsport club is going on a Fall Colors Sightseeing Cruise. All are invited. We're meeting at the visitor's center parking lot at UMass Amherst and going west almost to the NY border, then up to VT for a bit, and back down. Come out for some sweet roads, great scenery, perhaps a bbq and a beer afterwards.

Big maybe for me. After this weekend and all the driving I did, plus the CEG meet on the 13th @ Castle in the Clouds I've done a lot of driving lately.
If I get the Interceptor on the road who knows. That's a more comfortable road trip car. |

Been so busy lately this is the only shot I have of it for now. Tomorrow morning I'll take a new one:
![]() It has the antenna on the back, wig-wags in the lights and blue flashers in the side mirrors. Plus the blacked out rear trunk panel with "police interceptor" on it and the alley light. Watch for me.

When I was in the market for a car and looking at decommed P71s, my local PD said that I cannot legally own a car with blue lights (all other colors fine as long as I don't use them on the roads). Did things change in the last 2.5 years?
The one I was looking at had wig-wags in all four corners, light bars in the back window, flashers behind the grille, and headlamp/reverse flashers. As well as a hidden PA/siren in the grille and a light/PA/siren control panel in the center console. Yours looks great from that one photo. Can't wait to see more pictures of it. And maybe a video of the lights in action over the weekend? |

The one I owned prior to this had all that stuff stripped out, minus the alley light. So that was fine. The has the the lights but none of them are hooked up (a simple matter of reconnecting cut wires & hooking them to a control panel, which I have).
I asked a cop while I was getting my coffee yesterday about passing w/the blue flashers in the mirrors. He said so long as they don't light up I'm fine. You basically can have blue lights ON the car. But they can't be forward facing. These are, but they don't work so that's OK. |

I'd take em off if I had the lug caps. I shouldve saved em from my last one.

Great show today with the usual range of Merc classics....every single generation of SL, starting from a 300SL (bare chassis only) right up to the latest SL600, some 500Es, a 190e 2.3-16v, and a bunch of diesel sedans. An SLR roadster was the flashiest one there, plus a local dealership brought out the newest E-class and CLK. Swedish car day on the 18th is the next and last one I'm going to this year; I have no interest in VWs or Studebakers.
Pics from today here; not enough to warrant its own thread. Last edited by Labcoatguy; October 5th, 2009 at 5:26 AM. |

I'm coming home this weekend, but my flight back to Pitt is around 2pm on Sunday so I'm out. You have no idea how much I want to be there though.
Also, the weather report doesn't look that good for Sunday, so the show might not be that great. |

Hopefully it isn't as bad as the forecast predicts...right up until the day of the Merc show, it was predicting showers, but it was merely cloudy. Plus the owners of Swedish cars are less likely to treat them like trailer queens, so I'm keeping my hopes up.

I bailed on Sunday; it was drizzling throughout the day, so I figured the show wouldn't be worth it. Did anyone go?

Nah. We didn't get drizzle so much as giant snowflakes.

My and Victor were thinking. Probably not this year (or anytime soon), but how about we stage our own TG challenge. Granted we would have to shell out our own money, but we could set a budget, and a bunch of challenges (get friends to film it). Go up to the middle of nowhere in NH where insurance and registration could probably be avoided for the duration of a weekend (we'd still need plates). It'd be a fun time I think.
We were coming up with predictions what everyone would get. Me - Some sort of old Audi - possibly like this http://burlington.craigslist.org/cto/1413982799.html theVictor - Hopefully an RX7, but probably something sensible LeVeL - a Miata BlaRo - Honda CRX LabCoatGuy - Jag XJS Finn - some old Saab 900 or 9000 Katwalk (assuming shes ever allowed out of the house) - a classic Beetle |
