good little experiment

they started with a machine holding 7, yes 7 9600GT's an then moved onto a quad core machine powering 4 Nvidia Geforce GTX 295's (these are dual GPU)

end result was a very loud machine that gives up 55,000 ppd... need a good solid 1kW PSU for this though

I can't begin to imagine the noise of that many videocards in one machine. The HD4870 I have is already loud enough with the fan at 37%, which it needs to keep from overheating.

Kudos to anyone who can stand the noise, though.

Too bad that's not really useful for anything but folding... unless you have 8 monitors or something.

Video cards are becoming their own mini computers. At some point something is going to change fundamentally.

And I have a 4890 but it's not particularly noisy...
