I had to look that one up coz it sounds like such an unlikely story! I remember a driver breaking the strike, but I hadn't heard he left through a toilet window. The claims are apparently untrue, but it makes for a good story nonetheless. Niki Lauda talks about it in his autobiography though I havent read that for some time.

Keke Rosberg had a pretty good quote: He ran like a chicken and lost our respect forever – not because he left, but because he betrayed us. He went straight to Ecclestone and Balestre, and told them everything we had discussed.

Since I'm a big fan of Alain Prost (Naturally... ), here is a question about him.

Q: What was the "funny" game that Alain Prost used to play with Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi? The location that the game took place was near the Paul Ricard Circuit. Describe the actual rule of the game, and why it was stopped.

Weren't there unofficial records set for how quickly the journey could be done? That's not my answer by the way, coz I don't think that's it. I'll get back to you. I do have a vague recollection of this somewhere.

That was an separate incident altogether. Villeneuve and Pironi raced two Ferrari road cars from Monte Carlo to Maranello. With some inevitability, they attracted the local Italian police's attention. Eventually they got flagged down by the police. But to their surprise, once the policemen established their identity, the policemen quickly apologised and politely asked the drivers to re-enact their race for their private benefit images/smilies/lol.gif

Anyway, the main thing is that Alain Prost wasn't involved in all this. He got involved in a more ridiculous and daring game set by both Villeneuve and Pironi.

Hint : Prost only managed to beat them the once, and he thought that was enough.
