Default Schumacher buying Toro Rosso??

"Michael Schumacher is reportedly on the brink of a multi-million-pound buy-out of the Scuderia Toro Rosso team." - planet f1

I don't know whether I think this is great due to Schumi's known ability to run a team.. or poor because it will mean his team will be midfield..
Is it possible for a midfield team to get enough money from sponsors to match manufacturers? He brought Ferrari back from ~uppermidfield, but thats with the biggest budget in f1.

Wow! It would be good for Formula 1. I don't like a team like Toro Rosso who seems to fill the grid only and be a Red Bull 'B' team and not fight for the championship. I hope Schumi do well. I really do. I don't hate him. I think it will be good in the long run for Formula 1. Schumi F1 team! Yeah!

Is it just me or is Italian teams seem attractive to Schumi? I mean he started with Benetton, then move to Ferrari, now trying to buy an Italian F1 team? All of them are Italian team.

When Schumacher joined the team Benetton was an English team, once he left for Ferrari they became Italian.

It is an interesting idea for him to run a team, but I think it's too soon. I want to see him in a race car (Le Mans or DTM, etc.). Once he gets old and fat, then it would be reasonable to run an F1 team.

It would be nice to see Schumacher in GP masters... Also I wonder why he hasn't gone indycar-racing like many other successful F1 drivers did after they retired from F1? (Like Emerson Fittipaldi and Nigel Mansell)

In an interview he said that he doesn't like indy racing. He thinks it's too dangerous and a step down from F1.

He's said a few times that he wouldn't really be interested in another form of racing because of the safety standards.

Does Michael have enough money? F1 is a huge money sink for the non-manufacture teams and it has run off quite a few billionaires. Not sure if he alone would have the draw to get the sponsorship necessary to float the team for the few years it would take to get the team to a high/mid competitive level.

Well, maybe he can get manufacturer backing. Audi? Porsche? He is a German, a famous seven time F1 world champion German. Maybe we will have the Schumi Brawn Audi F1 team or just Audi F1 team or Porsche. Think of the potential. I quite the idea, maybe Schumi could teach the other team a lesson on how to run a really succesfull F1 team. Okay, so you may disagree but it is just my opinion.

If he does get Manufacture (Audi, Porsche, etc...) his personal investment would be minimal I'd think. The corporate people would want a good portion of ownership, just in case Schumi doesn't work out, so what would Schumi be doing that he couldn't do for some insane salary at Ferrari? I like the idea of Schumi running a team, don't get me wrong, but I just don't see why a man with his assumed net worth would take such a huge risk and outright buy a team when he could easily get a job at any of the established teams for a very good salary.

I'm pretty sure this rumour has already been dismissed - can't find the article though.

A Schumacher run team would attract plenty of sponsors but Toro Rosso so far behind that I wouldn't call it midfield. Wouldn't it be easier to get Ferrari to buy another team and Schumacher to run it?

Well, Schumacher could buy Toro Rosso and run Ferrari chassis and engines next year. Michael does have organisational skills, fantastic relationship to Fiat/Ferrari organisation and he's a big name which would help the marketing side of things...

Would Ferrari want Schumi running a team though?? Imagine the personel he could steal!!

I doubt this will happen. Prost failed, Lauda failed, Herbert's failing, Berger's failing....
