If you do not like something like that, then you are either blind or do not know shit about cars.
I'm sorry but that BMW is You-Gee-Ell-Why (She aint got no alibi). Looks like some kind of cartoon frog in car form, then someone sat on it.

Anyway, i contribute my favorite-looking car, the late 70's Camaro. Its just pure 70's secks. When you see it in person its such a small-looking car, but the hood seems to take up 3/4 of the length, like the old 30's race cars. Plus its not rare or expensive, which makes it cooler in my book, Normal people can see and afford one.

I can not agree with anyone who has said that the DS is ugly. Its revolution created all the cars we have come to love.

I'm not saying that to spite you but i really really don't like the look of that car.
Cool maybe, but beautifull - for me definatly not.
Anyway for me the most beautifull cars come from sixties and seventies. It is hard to find a modern car for me to come even close to some of the classics. (alfa 8c is one of them)

It's amazing, this survey was done generally by the Telegraph readers, it's not just a couple people. Yet, despite this being an average-up of lots of votes, there are still arguments. It's great.

How about we try to settle this - hold a "FinalGear 100 Most Beautiful Cars", in the style of the Final Gear Top 100? If enough people want, I'll organise this...

I'd like to suggest the title Mullet Muscle, or something of that sort for Mattd1zzl3. He fully embodies the mullet spirit.

I did not say old = ugly crap. There are plenty of timeless classics out there, DS is just not one of them. My post was referring to the point made earlier that the DS was revolutionary for it's time. While that does deserve alot of commendation it is not what the thread is about. I personally do not find the DS good looking (I do find the cars you posted good looking).

P.S. Knowing about cars in no way relates to finding something attractive. If that was the case you wouldn't find women attractive since lets face it who knows ANYTHING about them? images/smilies/wink.gif

By that logic the first steam powered horse carriage looking cars should be considered the most beautiful cars on the planet. (HINT: not even close)
The point that I am trying to make here is that you cannot judge the car's style on the basis of how revolutionary it was at the time and what it created. Model T is ultimately responsible for all of us being able to afford cars rather than select few wealthy individuals but would you call it beautiful?

I would not, nor have i ever had a mullet in my entire life. Is it so wrong have an opinion? However that would be what a mulleted-man would refer to as "A bitchin title", i fully support it images/smilies/smile.gif

I always thought the 70's 'maro was the finest looking car on the road by miles, years and years before i wanted one for myself. Now my feelings are hurt, i'm off to sulk images/smilies/cry.gif.

Eh, you know I'm just messin' with ya. images/smilies/comfort.gif images/smilies/biggrin.gif However, I think the early 1970s Camaros are still the prettiest, even out of all the generations. Yes, even including the first ones.

(referring to the DS)

I can argue that. We are not talking about the technology of the engine or the drive train. What we are discussing here is the design of the car. In 50s nearly all cars were the same and it would have continued longer than it did without the DS. Its smooth curves and low nose brought style into the mix in what people look at for cars. Your argument is invalid because it is not on topic. By your logic argument I would say that any car with a wangle engine is the bees knees.

You are arguing semantics at this point. I am arguing the premise, your premise is that the DS is beautiful because it created a revolution in design. By that logic the Model T is the best car ever because it created a revolution in manufacturing cars. It may have been different and good looking at the time of its creation (BTW there were plenty of better looking concepts before the DS so it's hardly the first) but now it looks dated and not particularly attractive.

There are plenty of other cars that are from the same (or even earlier) time periods that are much more beautiful and in many cases look very modern.

Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, the only thing I'm arguing is that saying that the car is good looking only because of its historical significance is like saying that jet planes are fast because prop planes are slow. One has nothing to do with the other.
