Well I was able to get a good look at a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe and I am suprised to say that it is a vast improvement over the pervious generation Tahoe. The design is different and the body work is very good. I was able to compare body panel gaps to a new Nissan Pathfinder that was parked beside the Tahoe and the body gaps on the Tahoe were as small and smaller than the gaps on the Pathfinder. The wheels were good looking and I am glad they finally replaced the one piece "Tahoe" logo with individual letters.
Now lets wait for the typical SUV bashers.

Interior is a big step up, but it is way too big. When I lived with my rents, they owned 2 previous tahoes (I hated both of them)... but now they have a Cadillac SRX. I was talking to them the other day and my dad said "I don't know why we had those huge cars for 8 years. The smaller one is much better to park, better on gas, and we can fit everything we used to fit in the tahoes in it."
Another thing... I hate how American car companies will try to sell their cars (in TV commercials, magazines, etc.) by saying "european inspired...". Pontiac said it about the G6 and Chevy said it about their Tahoes interior.

It's the size that people want. The bigger the country the bigger the car if you have the means.

I find it funny that people buy these things and never once go off road with them or use them for something a big truck like would be needed for. If you want to haul your big ass and your huge children around, why don't you drive something a bit more efficient or something a bit more economical such as a minivan. Why would you want to spend 100 bucks on gas per week when you could spend less than half for a similiar type car. I simply just don't get the point of SUVs at all, and I never will.

It is all about the looks and how you look in the vehicle. People buy SUVs because they don't like the way wagons and minivans look. You do have to admit that while a minivan may be more efficient, it looks like a piece of shit and you look like a sissy driving them. People were driving wagons and vans for 50 years and they were ready for something else.

![]() I'll admit, I'll never own a minivan. Not because "you look teh sissy" driving one, but because, as Clarkson says, "By buying one, you're telling everyone 'I've served my biological purpose, and now I'm spending the rest of my life turn a nice shade of beige.'" I'd rather buy a smaller, more practical SUV (Toureg, Chayenne, XC90). But then again I never plan on having more than 2 children, so why would I need a huge land whale.

The new Tahoe is a lot better than the old one, but, it's still a rubbish car. It's too big and pointless to be good. One thing I really don't like about it, is despite the fact that this car will obviously never go off-road, it still has a solid rear axle. Offering independent rear suspension helps improve the ride and handling some. Nissan and Ford have both managed to make big SUVs with independent rear suspension work, GM can as well.

Ordinary people don't car about IRS, or any other design elements like that in their cars. They don't care if it's overhead cam, dual overhead cam, quad overhead cam, or pushrod, or any of that.
Basically all they care about are : car maker, number of cylinders, number of seats, gas mileage (whether they get any or not), car style (coupe, sedan, SUV), horsepower (sometimes), and that the car doesn't look like shit. that's all the basic car buyer really cares about in a car |

Well, GM has clearly failed on the styling, it looks hideous.
I disagree with you on people not caring about engine and suspension technology, though, typical car buyers are slowly becoming aware of what it's worth.I was able to explain to my mother enough that when she bought a new SUV (Nissan Pathfinder SE--270hp 4.0L) that she was able to make an informed decision on which SUV she wanted. She drove several cars and was able to see the things I told her about, all starting to make sense on the road. This is why I think Nissan and other Japanese car firms are becoming more and more popular in America, they serve to a more informed sort of customer knows what they want, not just something that is decent enough.
