4 door Pontiac GTO.......yuk!

Driveing around yesterday I saw some twit with his Holden VT commodore (the 4 door that the Monaro/GTO is based on) that he grafted a export US export Pontiac GTO front end on.....well grafted is the wrong word, a few guys I know that work at Holdens say its a bolt on job....

Sorry I didn't have a camera on my otherwise I would have grabed a photo of this terrible monster. I'll keep the Camera in the car and if I see it around again, I'll take a photo.

Now I saw movies of the Export GTO with its new front end etc etc driveing around in video's and I saw them sitting in the export yard at Holdens (I live 3km's away from the factory) and they seemed to look O.K, but actually seeing that woeful front end moveing down the road made me feel sick.....why the hell did they restyle it? images/smilies/blink.gif

Now the Americans say it never had enough style, but I wonder if a American re-styled the Monaro to sell as the GTO? bah you guys don't know what you are talking about....images/smilies/lol.gif

I guess it's the same as people putting Chevrolet badges on their Commodores just to be different - it's a question of taste.

What is more questionable, however, is people that put Altezza or even VX lights on their VT, but neglect to change that middle light panel where the number plate goes. Now that is truly awful.

Doesn't suprise me - I've seen numerous Commodores with the Monaro bonnet with the two vents (ick) and tailights fitted. As Magnet said - the tailights look particularly attrocious when they're on a VT, so they don't match the existing middle panel.

nah they're very foul cobol74, every dickhead P-Plater seems to have tardy altezza lights matched with a retarded exhaust on their VP commodore.

Oh sorry - they are Dick heads. More specifically (and we have same sort of people) who would like to be seen in American anything rather than home grown.

Oh yeah for sure they are.

It makes no sense to me why you'd put a Chevy badge on a Holden in Australia if your Australian. Gee...they won't be the most popular guys in the pub, aye.

Yea, I am not a big fan of the Pontiacification of the Monaro. It does NOT look as good as the Aussie version. They have some obessesion with putting a honeycomb style grille on everything.

I find that incredibly funny, especially since there are guys over here who take the Chevrolet badges off their Luminas and replace them with Holden badges. Maybe we should set up a badge-exchange? images/smilies/tongue.gif

kaBOOMn, you say you're only 3 km from Holden's export yard? You wouldn't mind sneaking a look to see if there are any SS-Vs badged as Chevrolets awaiting export to the Middle East, would you? images/smilies/whistling.gif It seems that the highest-spec version sold here is the SS.

Got it man, I'll grab the digital cammera and get you some piccys tomorrow! (depends on how hung over I am!)

You don't see VL turbo owners putting Nissan/Nismo bages on their cars images/smilies/tongue.gif

If they are not in the old export yard at the factory they may be down at Port Adelaide......may have to go for a drive images/smilies/smile.gif

The honeycomb style grille is a tradition that has been around for around 35 years or so. Usually more associated with the Firebird/Trans Am though.

I've been watching the VE for a while now, and I like a lot of the features that are on the SS-V (projector headlamps, big color LCD screen, dual-zone climate control, etc.). Unfortunately, when I last went to the dealership about a month ago, the highest-spec model they had was the SS, and, since the cars were so new, they had very little information about them (the sales brochure I picked up was just a three page pamphlet). Neither the sales rep nor the manager knew if the features I wanted would be available later.

Soon I plan I going back to the dealer (armed with a couple of printed out pages from the Australian sales brochure images/smilies/mrgreen.gif) to ask again, as they should have more information now. I wouldn't mind waiting a year to get the features, but I have a hunch that they just won't be available over here. images/smilies/sad.gif
