Default a little situation

Ok so tomorrow I give you $35k CDN or 26k USD

YOu can buy anything you want (used or new) and keep some money for mods or simply to spend on something else... what would you do?

Personally although that's only like 6k away from what it would take for me to buy a lovely RX-8 I wouldn't even consider one.

I have no driving experience and I wouldn't want to risk to crash such a nice car. Plus insurances would rape me. And RWD sucks in our winters.

Instead I'd either get a fully loaded Mazda 3 GT Sedan (bout 23k CDN) or wait for the new Golfs Gti's (prolly close to that 35k when fully loaded)

What about you?

Well, as a Subaru Impreza WRX is quite a bit more than that I think, I'd just get a Subaru WRX instead.

Although there was almost no snow / ice to speak of here this winter, my STI seemed to behave just fine on the days that there was some on the ground.

I've never driven a WRX, but from what I'm told it's easier to drive in the winter than the STI.

here a WRX would be like 1-2k more than the limit. Plus I can't get over the cheap interior... other than that it's fine and it's perfectly suited for our roads and weather conditions... but again if I think realistically, insurances would be way too expensive for me

Buy a slightly used S2000 in good shape, hands down.

First thing on my mind is the TSX. It fits the 35k budget perfectly and is a pretty refined and comfortable car. A used E39 5 series would also be nice.

If I want a sports car though I'll probably choose a used S2000 or a RX-8.

Well...Renesis has the same idea of car that I am looking for rite now. I have test driven both the Mazda 3 and the Golf Mk V. Well...in the end I bought a Renault Laguna cos there was an offer. Same sort of price as the Mazda and the Golf but wif a bigger engine, bigger size and also lots of extra fitted at no cost.

Hmm...but with tat kind of money, I tink I will settle for a used E-Class or BMW 5 series as I like to drive Continental Executive Saloons.

TSX... didn't think about that. Definately a nice car to have. But it's too big and sedan-ish for a 16 year old like me images/smilies/tongue.gif

one thing I really hate about it though are the color choices. They're so much better in the USA! here we get fuly color combos i.e. black exterior only comes with beige interior! images/smilies/wacko.gif

I meant the STi when I said Impreza. images/smilies/wink.gif

This (click for more pics):

http://gallery.viper007bond.com/albums/2004AutoShow-Subaru/IMG_5362.sized.jpg

I didn't realize the STi was just a better version of the WRX. I thought there had been the Impreza and then they made the rally version of it - the Impreza WRX.

Then, within the past few years, they made a Subaru WRX which is only like $25,000 or something (my friend has one by the way) and I was under the impression that the Impreza WRX (which I guess is really the STi) was like 30 to 40 grand.

Can someone correct me on this lineage?

What about a Mini Cooper S?

I've test driven one the other day and it's great fun to drive, believe me!!
(I'd really like to own one.)

Plus: It suits your age and the FWD is easy to drive, even with snow on the road.

Then you can get them with lots of extras, like Climate Control. navigation system, leather, etc.(and I think traction control and ESP come as standard --> very safe for a beginner) and you still have money left to spend on rims , audio, and so on.

Think about it, the Mini is great car!

PS: As they say: "Is it love?"
--> It sure is!! images/smilies/wink.gif

images/smilies/icon_question.gif Not in here in Europe....

C'mon, the Mini isn't a girl's car! Everybody can drive it, no matter if your young or old, male or female. (IMHO)
The Peugeot 206CC, the Nissan Micra, the Renault Twingo...THOSE can be considered as girl's cars.

Anyway, have you driven a Cooper S?
As I said, it's great! And because of that I don't mind if somebody may think it's a girl's car. 8)
