Default An Interesting Fusion of Styles...

Dino Dalle Carbonare just posted some very interesting shots on his blog. I hadn't seen this car before but some of you may have.

http://blog.gtroc.com/dino/

http://blog.gtroc.com/dino/CSHiro-Impreza-07.jpghttp://blog.gtroc.com/dino/CSHiro-Impreza-02.jpg
More shots at DCD's blog: http://blog.gtroc.com/dino/

Basically, this is the result of a specialised Japanese body shop called Car Service Hiro wondering what the old-style hot rod chopped roof would look like on a modern car. Enter Subaru, who comissioned CS Hiro to build the car for the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2004. Anyway, CS Hiro bought the car off Subaru after the Salon, and went about fitting it up for some circuit work.

Anyway, have a gander. I know most of you will think, yes it has a rubbish body kit and rubbish stickers and a stupid wing, which it does, but look past that and see the Impreza underneath. My big question, what do you think of the chopped roof on the scooby?

Personally, I love it. I've always thought the glasshouse on the Impreza was far too high, and that looks fantastic. Unfortunately, I could never own, possibly even drive a car like that, i'm about 6'5" and usually need all the headroom I can get, but that is a brilliant look.

Opinions People!!

Looks like it's been sat on by a Chrysler 300C - no sir, I don't like it.

for the tuning decoration 100% looser but on a stock impreza this chopped roof could be nice I presume. So get rid of the stickers and this giant wing and yes it could probably be a "winner" because it gives a more agressive attitude to the car..

Wouldn't fit in as I use to sit very straight in cars, so this one's not an option for me - I don't really see the point as the Impreza already looks good in stock - wonder what the roof lowering would do to a Multipla or something similar.

i like it as a race car, it seems to be a trend these days to make the beltline higher and higher to emulate a low roof but keep inside height

Don't like it - maybe if they made the windshield a more rakish angle, but for now it looks like it's got its head caved in and it's wearing a swimmer's cap.

I thought that was an R34 with Subaru bits fitted on. I kinda like it but it definately looks as if it's got the 300c profile. The pictures make the car seem bigger than it really is.

Well judging by the interior this doesn't seems to be a proper race car for me apart if now racing drivers needs 2 leather seats(but true you can take your mechanician with you so it could be actually usefull) , air con , navigation system(if your lost on the race track) and a radio(listening to "meat loaf" to gain 2secs per lap) ..... images/smilies/lol.gif

http://blog.gtroc.com/dino/CSHiro-Impreza-06.jpg

That's why I said "tuning decoration" and not "race decoration".
Edit: if this guy wanted to go fast or something first thing to do before putting stickers and a wing would be to strip down the interior in order to lose weight

Well, a Porsche GT3 has two seats, but you wouldn't say that means the car isn't designed to be fast. An Enzo comes with a stereo I'm sure, but that wouldn't make you say "it's just decoration, the car isn't meant to be fast".

Anyway, I don't like the chop-top look. It just looks disproportionate.

Oh I thought you meant a real race car not a road legal one because this isn't a real race car it has got a license plate . I misunderstood images/smilies/oops.gif
Btw a stock subaru Impreza comes already with a huge wing so why replace it with this surf board?
Once more when I was talking about Tuning decoration I was pointing out the wing , the color and the stickers....
but I still agree to disagree, for me this tuning decoration is too much images/smilies/mrgreen.gif ....apart from the chopped roof.

At first i thought it was a Toyota Chaser with Scooby lights, but then i read it and found out it is an Impreza.

I don't really like chopped roofs on any car. So im going with a no from me.

I don't like it - just doesn't look right...

However, would probably look much better if the bonnet and boot lines were lower too... but then that would just mean the whole car was just basically shorter so would be the same as not lowering the roof in terms of proportions; so... no.

There are actually quite a few Japanese shops that chop modern cars, including C-west and Signal Auto.
